Yeah... I know he does, ... I just thought it'd be cool to have a line of 3 bugs in a row all on Nasas... you know... solidarity of the JWC Brotherhood of Nasa Stars

The ATB will be cool too,... just thinking out loud.

There actually is another guy in Atlanta that has a buggy - the owner of the kite shop on Piedmont. I told him about JIBE and he might go.

Till then you can watch this one again.

That's great Randy, did he tell you where he rides?... I'm guessing piedmont park in the meadow. I saw his website but wasn't sure if he was a power kiter or just into single and dual line stuff.

Hope he makes it to JIBE!

They have done a little landboarding at Piedmont park. He has a bunch of landboards, control bars, helmuts, etc and I think he still has a big Beamer, but not sure. They probably sell a lot more single line stuff though. He mentioned a place called Arabia Mtn - but i don't know if that is just for static flying or what. The also have some stunt kites (HQ Mojo). They have a lot of stuff there.

All right, I couldn't wait any longer and I ordered 4.0m and 8.5m NS3s. Hope there's still any wind by the time they get here.

Just double-checked to see if that was at all reasonable for me. Unfortunately I'll still be an undergrad then. Definitely looking forward to the day when I can travel to these things.

I haven't been wearing a helmet because I've found myself pretty comfortable with my gear and activities, but also because I didn't like my $5 helmet that I had. I've been wanting to push my own limits a little more lately and decided I needed a safety upgrade. Here's the new lid.

Protect your noggin, you may get a bit over confident and go over the side, they do create a lot of lateral pull when on full gas.

My worry is that my longest lines are 9m. The 8.5m NS3 should definitely be a step up from my old 6m NPW5 though.

Flew the 5.5m hooked in for the first time...

Many thanks to Davis (Cheeks) for trading me a standard hook spreader for my PL Bullet Spreader... I really liked the way it felt to be able to hook in and unhook to utilize the Depow more efficiently... Also felt super safe and easy to fly one handed. I could easily unhook or use the yellow ball for depow... Man these are great kites! I can't wait for JIBE!!!! Wind was maybe 10 mph gusting to the mid-high teens.

Hope to get the 7m up sometime soon

Yup. One of my favorite parts of the NS. With the 3rd line attached to the harness, you can just "let go" of the bar and kill the kite. I don't hook in while in the jank, just strong arm it after my semi OBE. I just work the bar. I save the hook in for clean air. Just like a QR Wichard as a safety, having the yellow ball you need to be faster than mother nature to really benefit while hooked in. By the time it was going wrong, I was already up and out of the buggy. I also like the fact you can control the power while getting situated in the buggy by letting the bar out a bit. Then, pull down, hook in, and whooooosh :D

Very true!

How do you guys utilize the adjustment in the 3rd line with the different sizes?... I know you're supposed to adjust it with different sizes, but what's recommended? Or do you guys bother with it?

I have different knots tied on. I've been meaning to color code them with a sharpie for kook proof. Yes, the third line attachment does vary from kite to kite. At least on my two bars. I like my nose to start collapsing about two thirds way extended out. If I don't adjust to the correct knot, its either way too long, or way too short on the depower throw while switching between kite sizes.

I've also toyed with the idea of trying my AQR on the Nasa bar. I may try it at JIBE.

Jason, did you have an obe with the nasa's?

I don't bother with the adjustment for the third line but I probably should. Still love these the most in the buggy. I'm still pretty nervous on the rare occasion the wind allows me to use the 2.5.

Yes Sean. A semi lol. It was not a violent OBE though. More of an over the side rail, on my knees, then up to my feet. It was in one geaceful motion that i played off to the spectators lmao. I posted about it a few months ago. It was with the 5.5. I lost some speed in a turn then caught a gust.

ok, I either didn't remember or didn't read that one. I've only had one similar one with the 4 meter. They can still get ornery if you test them. ;)

Another method of safety is to use the AQR rope itself and not fumble with the wichard and block. If you have an AQR rope like BigKid and me that attaches to a rod under the seat, you can simply hook the small carabiner to a choked knot around the main safety ball's collar.
Just another thought. It might be less cumbersome.

I cant wait to get these on the slick hardpack sand at JIBE. Virtually NO rolling resistance. I will definitely start down a size to sort things out :wee:

Try this vid:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG5XnQqcV8Y

I have to admit that I leave mine at around the 24"/60cm mark for all kite sizes.

I don't know if the measurements in the vid also apply to the NS3's. Probably a good starting point.
