Did you seal the box so the wind can't get out?

Got the Ace today! Nice 8mph winds, but I couldn't make it out. Long story involving no ride what so ever.

Now a snowstorm rolls through...I hope I can find some time to fly it soon!

Well, this kite is confusing me. I couldn't get it to take off. I switched the brake lines for the power lines, and it took right off. Maybe my lines got stretched recently.

I put the kite up directly downwind. The wind didn't seem all to might at that point. I had a nice muddy skud down the football field. The kite took me up about 4 feet, took me about 30 feet downwind and dropped me off nice and lightly. It would have been awesome, if I was expecting it. I then packed it up considering the horrible winds (so much for a good new flying spot.) cold, and muddy weather, and the fact I needed to get to work. I walked in covered in mud and my boss said "So, you got the kite didn't you?"

Can't wait to fly it in steady winds. Control my own jumps. But awesome amazingly lift kite. Acts a bit like a kid on a sugar high, but good fun.

Your lines must be streched. It flew fine for me. Are you using kite killers? sounds like you had to chase it a little. How can you hook the brakes up as main lines and fly fine? Did I miss understand something?:puzzled:

I wish I understood too! I'm going to inspect it more when its not so cold and I have gloves on. I'm getting a new set of HQ lines soon anyways. Super confused, but I got it in the air. :tumble:

I suspect its my lines (or something I'm doing horribly wrong.), but it was strange when I had it hooked up as I had on my Blaze only to find it to not get more then 5 feet off the ground.

I think he means that he swapped his flying lines and brake lines completely. At the kite and the handles.

I don't think he means that the brakes are tied to the top of the handles and power lines to the bottom. Because that just wouldn't fly.

Correct. I still don't know why the power lines wouldn't work. Hopefully I can put my new HQ lines on it and learn it works just fine and avoid using the Pansh lines at all costs.

Makes perfect sense, if the flying lines stretched a fair bit then you've effectively shortened the brake lines or basically applied the brakes. If you've got enough tension constantly on the brake lines it will keep the kite from flying at all.

Switch the brake lines with the flying lines at both ends, now you should have nice tight front lines and a good bow/sag in the brake lines. While the kite will fly this way, be careful, Most linesets will use something like 300kg lines for the flying lines, and only 100kg lines for the brakes, some use even softer brake lines BC they're not supposed to ever hold any real weight, just enough pressure to collapse the kite. Jumping with the lines switched is a good way to get dropped.

Both Pansh kites, including the one you have, that I've flown really don't like the brakes being applied. If you have some tension on the brakes with the bottoms of the handles pointing slightly toward the kite then the brakes are too tight. One trick I've done on them is tie the brake lines on as long as you can and then start shortening the power lines on your handle leaders. It took me awhile to get that ace right but then woohoo!:o

Easy enough to make up a couple pigtails as well to extend the brake lines. I usually have a couple sets in the kitebag just in case, Basically a length of the thicker surf kite bridal line doubled over, tie a knot 3" up the line, then one every 1-2" or so. make them about 6" long total. Larks head the loop end of it to the brake line leader then you have a series of adjustment knots so you can easily loosen off the brake lines until you get the sweet spot. Make them ahead of time, keep some handy. I usually end up losing them pretty quick. You help someone out with tuning their kite and another pair is gone. Cost is low though, easy way to help the people around you.

I'm going to fly it tomorrow in the predicted 10mph winds. (that is if I can find gas money...) Probably won't be jumping in those winds, but I can get the line issues figured out.

Hey Baluk,

I believe the 5.5m Brooza has found a home down south, I'll be putting another one out to finish the tour early Jan. I need to keep some kites around for some out of town guests over christmas, so probably get it in the mail after the first week of Jan.

A Combat will probably be heading south at about the same time, I'll announce that in a seperate thread when it's heading out.
