I tried to fly a 7m Radsail Pro with only kite and handles... I can't hold the handles that far apart to make it work. But I have flown the 3.6 Beamer on 15' lines and it was a kick in the pants, you need good winds and they have to be steady winds to boot.

There's a post by Kent (awindofchange) about flying on short lines in high winds. It's what originally what got me thinking about it for limited space too. It's been haunting me for awhile.

This is the first non-rain day we have had in what seems like two weeks. Now if it only holds through the weeknd.

The NPW is always a good candidate for bridle (as opposed to bridal... althought that could probably work too) flying.

We fly nasa wings on handles or short lines all the time.

I've flown a NPW9 (Nasa wing v 9) on handles with skis and it worked quite well.

Seemed like a good way to introduce someone to flying one, and then you could extend line length as they get a sense of how to 'handle' the kite. Would sure keep the anxiety factor down for beginners, as you can't build up kite speed (and pull) using apparent wind until YOU get moving.

Coastal wind sports sell line sets that are actually line extensions in various lengths that would work for this.

climax lines come in 14m .... but shorter can be requested

its possible to fly FB foils on handles straight off the bridles, it act more like sail than a kite.

Sam, sorry to have missed you over the weekend, we were closed on the 3rd & 4th to let our employees (and myself) have the weekend with their families. Didn't actually get that much time to fly but going to make up for that this weekend.

There is a kind of Bible on learning how to kiteboard called Secrets of Kiteboarding by Holzall that promotes the teaching of the sport through a progression of added line lengths, starting with only handles attached directly to the kite and progressing to 28m. He equates a 3m line lengthening with a 1m kite "size" increase thus suggesting the use of line length as a way to fine tune a given kite to the prevailing wind strength. I'm not sure many people adhere to his methods but they do work.

Kind of...shorter lines means a shorter stroke through the window, but that still means at some point the kite generates a lot of power, even if it's only for a short period of time.
