Pass the Peter Lynn Twister II 5.6m

Who wants to try it?

It will come complete with lines, handles, killers.

Due to a previous lose to Screwyfits I will have to set some limits on who gets it. Basically if your brand new to the forum ... just registered and want to give it a try type thing chances are you will not get it. This is my kite not a sponsored kite, so I would like to get it back :) So good long standing members of the forum have priority

Its the same usual deal ... you pay the shipping to the next guy. Its not a requirement but I think its a good idea to pay the $2-$3 extra bucks for insurance

Whoever is first gets to unwrap it from the plastic :P

Lets get the list started:
(Edited a little to save $ on shipping ... let me know if changes need to be made)

1. Lunchbox - shipped to 7/8
2. Forgiv3n (graciously gave up his #1 spot to save me shipping $) shipped to 7/22
3. Arkay - shipped to 8/6
4. stetson05 - shipped 9/30
5. kitejumper - shipped 10/12
6. dgkid78
7. trancein1
8. dylanj423
9. burritobandit
10. soccerflyer
11. drunkinmonk - I sent u2u but no response. Please respond

I really think they're holding Zilker hostage for ACL which is in Octorber :( The ACL peeps are the ones who paid for the renovation anyway :/ This year's 4th of July stuff was held at Auditorium shores, and that's a been held at Zilker for YEARS.

Yeah maybe I'll drive over there to fly it in REAL wind. Although Austin would be a good place to test it in gusty/shifty conditions...

Hey guys,

Well yesterday was my second chance to fly the kite. I'm not really good at reviews, but I'll share a few things now.

Just like Dino said...kite was brand spanking new! The quality was very good. Colors of the kite along with the different shades in color on the bridle looked amazing together. Everything was numbered so putting everything together was a snap.

Wind conditions on the 1st day were light...maybe 8-12mph and relatively smooth. Conditions on the second day were about the same, maybe a tad more on the upper range but gusty.

The kite handled really well under both conditions. The one thing about this kite that really stood out was the amount of power it generated for it's size and especially in these light conditions. TORQUE was the first word that came to mind.

As expected it had a lot of power at or near the top of the window. It did not have a tendency to overfly and did not overshoot at the edge. Perfect landboarding kite.

I'm going to try to take it to the beach this weekend and get it in some stronger winds and see how the jumping potential is. I'm off on Monday as well so after that one last test, I'll be sending it back out, probably on Tuesday to the next in line.

All in all, I'm very pleased with this kite...contrary to what I was originally thinking...it doesn't appear to be a scary kite...I'm sure that wouldn't be the case in 17mph+ but since I don't really bend anymore when I fall, I'll leave that for others to find out.

I apologize for the crappy review...but I thought I should at least try to provide some feedback.

Thanks again to Dino for the share!

Pete

Hey Nick....kite is on the way!!!

Coming via USPS priority (2-3 days) with today counting as Day 1 according to the lady working the desk...which means you should have it by Friday!

I'll U2U the tracking # although the USPS tracking system sucks!

Have fun and make sure to provide some feedback ;-)

Mood: Go Fly A Kite!

[*] posted on 23-7-2009 at 02:39 PM

I just wanted to throw this out there for everyone on the list so you kinda know what to expect.
I found the kite very stable and good power, but a bit slow. This not being a bad thing when put in the hands of a newer pilot. My selling pitch for the twister is that person who comes to me and says I have little to no kite experience and i want to jump. I know you have heard that before :) I feel confident putting them on the twister because it has the stability and is a bit slower than say a blade. I put them into a 3-4m and the kite will treat them right and still provide some lift to help them begin their jumping quest. but not be too lifty or have the flying characteristics of a real high aspect kite.
I don't want people expecting some crazy unstable lift monster. I like the kite and love the fact that it is filling this "I'm new and want to jump" category. I talked this over with lunchbox and he had a similar experience as I, so i look forward to the thoughts of the rest of the people on the list.
