Anyone wanna meet up in Sulivan's Island and show a newb how it's done?

I have a good friend, Eric, who is looking to get into the sport. This place is near to him and I told him that there are some GREAT guys on this forum that are willing to show people how to kite and let them get the their feet wet.

Plan is to roll out of work and hit the road, probably sleep when I need it and drive some more. Saturday night will be a hotel for sure and then a slow ride home Sunday.

when you get to the first traffic light at Folly (Center St) hang a right.....go down to 10th St and park anywhere in the grass just make sure all four wheels are off pavement and your good (no ticket) use the beach access ramp at the Violet house (cant miss it and there we will be) Ill shoot you my cell # as well.......................

tide is low at 530 pm........wind guru shows it 15 to 17 kts on Saturday afternoon and 15 plus all day Sunday........................time to break in the new 10m Pulse.....................:duh::duh:

OK so this is not Folly Beach State Park, obviously. Will I have trouble with the kitemobile (trailer?) I'm in. Who Else?

its just before you enter the park......this time of year the park has designated swim areas so we will be downwind of the park but plety of room for the buggys, KGBs, and water toyz.................................:duh::duh:

its our version of kite beach if you will.......if you can bring one of the PL wind socks, I really want one of those...............................where is everyone spending the night and whos back again on Sunday?

this sat at the park or on ..9th street? or north.

10th St west......turn right at the light (Center St) and head down to 10th just before you get to the park.............................awesome Phree, Nate, Beamerbody Drag hittin the surf..........................AC/Pokite/Mel kickin it in the bugs

I'm in. I'm confused about the whereabouts. I drove once to a beach access that I thought was called "9th street access". It was miles away from the county park that was way down on the south end of the beach. Todd threw me under the bus a little since I told him the location would be picked by tridude and it would either be at the 9th street access or at the county park on the other end of the island. I was certain that after arriving on Folly, arcs would be flying to the north or south and visible.

So tri when you say 10th street just outside the county park, I'm not sure what you mean. Is there a third place I don't know about? What time should I plan on getting there and have the beach widening? 11-12 maybe?

I'll shoot for Saturday.

Google Earth has a Street views check box under layers on the left that show 1002 all way to park if you zoom in a bit.

Might be able to pic one of those locations and pin point where Tri's talking about.

at the first light turn right (same turn for the park) until you hit 10th St...............you will see a violet house on your left and be just short of the park entrance.......parking along the street is free, just make sure all you wheels are off pavement....use the 10 St access ramp to the beach.........................:duh::duh:

ahh, third access point. I'm all over it. This must be between the pier and the county park then, favoring just north of the park entrance.

11:40 am high tide 4:27 pm low............winds forecasted to pick up around noon...............at high tide enough beach to launch for the water..................... by 1/1:30 should be board and buggy time......wind guru link below......................................

windmapper is showing 3-8. Is windguru better for coastal winds? I'm envisioning the 12 Syn going up so I'm hoping for the higher winds. I might need to put the Phanny up for water play but the 12 will be lit up pretty good in the buggy at 18knots. We also have to try out my new inflatable doll so we need some good wind for that too. :Ange09:
