PL Hornet or HQ Beamer IV

I'm looking at the XR+ bundles that they have on A Wind Of Change, and I'm wondering. Given that they both have the same buggy, would it make more sense to go for the package that contains a 2m and a 3m HQ Beamer IV or for the package that has a 3m and a 5m PL Hornet?

I'm not sure that I'll buy either of them, but I'm seeing what other people think. I do think buggies look like fun! :wee:

Currently I have (ignoring sport/stunt kites) 2 Prism Stylus P.3s, a Prism Snapshot 1.9, and a New Tech NPW (60" which is their largest). A friend of mine is sending me a pair of Pansh kites (an Ace and a Legend), but I haven't flown them yet.

Depends on common local winds of course
A 2-meter Beamer in a bug is a real high winds kite, like 20-30+ mph once you had some experience

The difference between the 3m Hornet and Beamer is that the Beamer will due better in lighter winds (higher aspect ratio) and the Hornet will due better in higher and gusty winds.

The Hornet 5 will get you rolling in 5-6 mph winds if you work it

If these are first kites, start flying with the 3m whatever one it is.

Have fun. be safe

Inland winds generally, except when I'm on vacation. Generally 5-10 mph.

What size panash kites? You might just want to get a buggy and worry about kites later. If your getting decent sized Panash kites. They are not the best but less horry about trashing them learning. There are other kiters in your area who fly (Ragden being one of them) as well as the nj buggy club (google it). Also a NJ buggy club member is a kite shop owner and carries the HQ line.

6m Ace and 4.5 Legend. I suppose the other important question is, would the buggy fit in the trunk of my car? (The back seats fold down)

be careful with those kites, especially the ace. definitely start in lighter winds to get the feel for them. They both have a whole lot more power than the kites you currently have. Don't forget the brain bucket

A pl buggy will break down smaller than a golf club bag, so if you can fit a set of clubs in your truck than buggy would be no problem

Brain bucket plus some pads should be showing up tomorrow. I needed them for my K2 skates anyway. And yeah, I saw somewhere that the Ace had some lift to it.

I have put mine in the back of a Toyota Corolla and Prius. the back axle comes off with no tools in 20 sec. and the foot pegs come off with a poke of your car keys.

I was typing my previous post when you posted what kites you have. You are already used to something more aggressive than the Hornet and Beamer. For the Buggy, consider the Peter Lynn Viper or Reactor II (about to be released). Or Flexifoil Blurr

I would use those kites alone with what you have. Start in light winds with the smaller kite. Couls probably even start with the P3, and work up from there
Then decide what you want. Maybe try others kites out. The NJ guys are pretty cool with sharing
Im not an expert on buggies, but i know there are ones that break down for easy transport and will most likely fit. Maybe someone else could chime in on the buggy.

Just to reiterate, I'm not used to the Ace or the Legend yet, they're on their way. Are the Beamer and the Hornet less aggressive than the Prisms?

the beamer and hornet are going to be nice and stable like the prisms, but produce alot more power per size. The prisms in my opinion are a stunt foil kite more so than a power/traction kite

Sorry, my bad. Prism about the same. similar design objective but I do not know its aspect ratio. the Hornet is 3 and the Beamer is 3.5

Ok, that's what I expected about the Prisms.

So... it sounds like people think I should get a buggy and use it with what I've got? Or go talk to the NJ Buggy club being another option.

Unless you just have to have new kites, you can use what you got. Just like others said, take your time. Start in light wind till you get used to them. Each kite will have a different personality. Feel free to go onto the njbuggyclub site and ask questions. Its been kinda dead lately.

Admittedly, I do always like new stuff ;-)
