Body Armor vs waist/seat harness
I was looking at this but need too know if it will get in the way of my harness. Also what makes the Pro so much more expensive/is it worth it?
Thoughts.. suggestions?
Thanks

any armor s going to get in the way a bit..... what are you going to be doing that you need that much protection?
i find that knee/elbow pads and a helmet are enough... the harnessses that i use offer some protection, too

I'm just a chicken sh*t :embarrased: , and like the idea of an all in one with out the pads sliding around too much. My harness does the same for my
lower back and gut.

Not a bad price - that stuff is mostly for downhill racers and stuff. I got a comparable Rockgardn top in like new cond. from eBay for under $40.
There are enough stories here about rib injuries that make you want to consider added coverage if your harness doesn't cover it. It's just when it
gets this hot and humid, I don't want all that on me!

I have the older model of this and have yet to use it. It is pretty bulky and with my harness it is even worse. If I was running on a hard surface
and going faster (I suck) I would probably wear it. Like lad said they suck in the heat, but I did break some ribs a while back and that is not fun
at all. Willard, I am planning on going to Sunset next weekend and will let you check one of these out in person if you like.

You may want to look into a Mystic impact vest that is designed to be used with a separate harness. It is for kitesurfing so it may be a bit warm for
land use. I have not tried one yet but I am looking for somthing after doing body dragging in the water and having the waist harness ride up on my
ribs. I can't tell if I am sore because I have not used the muscles or I bruised somthing - no marks.

Am planning on either Florence or Sunset beach next weekend. If you're around you can check out my speed jacket. The thing to remember about most
body armor is that they provide very little lateral protection. Most of the protection is centered around the chest and back. Understandable when
you look at the sports that use body armor the most, motor sports. I bought a rib protector that helps some. The body armor, rib protector are only
gonna help with obe, and fall off your board. If you are in a larger buggy (i.e. Libre, apexx)
and have any lateral pull those protection devices are not gonna help, trust me on this one. Discovered this just a few months ago. Had my speed
jacket on, and got folded over the left side rail of my hardcore.
But my speed jacket doesn't really bulk up with my seat harness. I can see where it would with a waist harness though.

there is no bad protection if it makes you feel more safe. safety is always first no matter what speed you travel at. we all protect our heads with
helmets why not our body too. i rather be riding daily than recovering 2 weeks from an injury anyday.
its nice that most of the suits out there offer spine support too. also there are some days i'd would want a pressure suit just for for the shoulder
padding on failed jump attempts on the mtn. board.
i like the idea of Sean's (csa_d) rib protector, a few years ago at nabx my harness spreader (old style) unhooked from the clip and found its way to
my lower rib, and finally broke it. to this day my rib sticks out a bit. LOL.
my personal preference has always been Seat Harness for buggy, and Landboarding.
