kestrel from ebay there is also an iphone app that works reasonably in wind
under 20 once you figure out how to hold the phone. that is, in my case, if you like sand in your phone.

Hey,
Is the iphone app ok? Being new to kites I don't want to spend too much/anything on a wind meter, just so happened to be browsing the app store and
saw it, not alot of ratings as yet.

iPhone wind meter app SUCKS. It is hooked to the microphone and get wind speed by listening to the turbulence from the wind. Very inventive, but
subject to too many exterior variables to be accurate. It was never consistent for me and normally just wrong. Clever toy, but not for serious use.
The LaCrosse is acculturate enough and cheaper there then I could probably sell them for.

I got my anemometer on ebay for 35 bucks! Sure helps when the winds are up so you fly the right kite. Also helpful to know when not to fly a kite!

I got a skywatch on ebay, 50 bucks. It does the job but if I turn it upside down and then back, the max will change to more than it was.
Seems to be right if you just set it up and leave it alone. Holding it out the car window it's right on the money.
Very nice meters but cost way too much new.
