Ace on a turbo bar?


I am thinking about building my own vesion of the Ozone Turbo Control Bar, cause I don't have an extra $150 to blow on a bar.

I am thinking about hooking it up to my Ace. Why, you ask?

Well, mostly because I am just curious and want to try it. :puzzled:

Also I think it may give me a little more courage with the Ace in higher winds.

The turbor bar (from what I've heard) gives a lot of brake input to fix bridle kites and therfore has great turning (for a bar).

I know that the Ace does NOT like much or any brake input, or it flies wierd. BUT I am thinking that if I fly in a higher wind day the turbo bar + ace might be a lot of fun.

Also the turbo bar has some safety features so I will not get lifted like that dude in that video on the forum. I will let go if I feel it start to yank me.

Has anyone tried putting the ace on a turbo bar?

You will spend more money for the bar than you did the kite :lol:

But like you already know the ace does not like much brake input so I doubt you would benefit from the more expensive bar. But it would be interesting to find out.

My 5m Ace flew O.K. on my home built crossover bar. I was satisfied until one day I put it on handles. That was a gusty low inland wind day and the handles made the difference in control needed. Without the handles that day would have been a write off.

My smaller kites didn't take to a bar as well. Just enough extra weight to play on the brakes and have it fall back in marginal winds.



Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

I know, right? That is why I am building the bar. I am saving my money to go towards my first depower!!! :wee:

actually if you let go of the turbo bar the kite goes into high speed mode since it's flying on the power lines only. i'm going to experiment with reversing the line setup of the turbo bar and see if i can make it work for me

Right. Nothing about the Turbo bar will keep you from getting lofted. In fact you are hooked in would have to release the safety; more effort than just letting go.

Then you are back to essentially a standard cross-over bar, but the effect of moving the bar would be all bass-ackwards.

Don't expect safety features to save you. That will only set you up for an accident. In my opinion the only way to really improve safety is to spend time studying and learning about wind conditions and stay home when things are dicey.
