Let The Games Begin

Buggy-Brethren,

It's Monday morning and already the Ivanpah playa is littered with brightly colored cloth and even brighter buggy-riders.

The Pre-Event at Elmer's was a fine time altho we had only light wispers of wind and the water blew back to our end of the lakebed on Saturday morning.
All the other lakebeds in that part of the Mojave; Koehn, Cuddeback, Superior, Silver, Sulurian, were also wet.

So we had a marvelous buggy camp just off the lake bed,
got to know some new friends and chat over the times with our old buggy buddies.

Sunday saw us all head to Ivanpah in a mini-caravan of dust-covered, buggy-festooned vehicles, driven by a crusty gaggle of old, grinning men.
It's just who we are.

Ivanpah was warm sunny and DRY.
Some of the land sailers were still in residence, but the buggiers are taking over the lakebed.

Monday morning dawn saw SW winds 10-20 mph with even more in the forecast.

Think about that.

Now get back to work.

(sigh)

I am often wrong, but never in doubt.

Safen Up! Buggy On!

Let the Games begin... at 40mph wind speed

There was only one OLD grinning man, and he was in the old grey VW Vanagon...

27-30 mph gusting to 50 right now, van's rocking like an old shipwreck, and dirt's blowing everywhere.... this MUST be Ivanpah!

Great fun with a 1.7 meter kite this a.m., and the WindJet is out trying to break the 116 mph record.

If you ain't here... get here! If you can't, we'll talk about you, 'round the campfire.

Back to fun and frolic... -Dooley

Any word on the record????? Even if it is "Unofficial"? With 40mph,, they should have had a shot!

Wingjet got up to 98.4. No record yet but awsome to see in action.

Ivanpah had a moisture event yesterday evening. I don't think it was that bad, but I'll leave that up to the local experts to determine. The grapevine buzz was that it would be buggy-able again today.

BTW, as of yesterday morning Silurian was dry. I was watching radar as the storm approached and I don't think they got any rain, but I could easily be wrong. Might keep it in mind as a backup lakebed.
