I see some Vancouver rider/flyers on the forum.....could you guys suggest any good kite shops in Vancouver? I am there on business for the week and wouldn't mind perhaps spending some $$$$.

Vancouvers only major kite shop is dedicated to windsurfers and kite surfers with a nod but little knowledge of foils or buggies.
They sell some HQ stuff and some boards but it it 99% water. The owner Phillipe is a great guy but came from windsurfing. The shop is www.airtimeboardsports.com .North Shore Board sports also carry a bit of gear for the water crowd.

The 2 dealers that sell land gear are online. You can catch up to them at Garry Point any given weekend. They are Ripssession ( Richard ) http://www.ripsessionkiteboarding.com/ who sells, Peter Lynn, Cooper, Uturn, Wolfentermer and MBS. Skycountry ( Scudley ) www.skycountry.ca who sell Skycountry.

if you can make it out to Garry Point Park on the weekend SAT / SUN ... there is lots of gear to go around. We @ RSK have spare buggies and some extra RII to fly as well.

The only kite brick and mortar shops are toy stores or kite surf shops. Airtime Sports is not really interested in land kiting; the only thing he usually has are two line trainers. Kites and Puppets is at the kids market on Granville Island; the name says it all. With less than 20 land kiters in the area I doubt any powerkite shops are going to spring up for quite a while. If you want meet at Garry Point or Vanier to try some kites that can be arranged. Let us know if you want to meet up.
Remember, no need to bring your killers.

Vanier Park is much closer to your hotel than Garry Point. Vanier Park is located by the MacMillan Planetarium and Vancouver Maritime Museum.
Google maps will provide directions to both locations. For Vanier Park search google maps for Vanier Park Vancouver BC. For Garry Point search Google maps for Garry Point Park Richmond BC. The result for Pajo's fish and chips will direct you to the park.

From about 4pm every day and maybe next sat if my flight can't be changed. Not a lot of time but still enough to hang some lines for a couple hours till dark!

YUP,

I get home at 4 so if we get some winds from the west or north we are ON for Vanier Park. If it is like today you can fly but the wind will only be about 10kph. Not exactly fun but at least I got a fly.

Next Saturday Rip will be and I hope to be in Oregon for SOBB. I could meet you pretty much any evening at Vanier. To get from your hotel to Garry Point at rush hour is not going to be fun. Are you really going to be stuck away from home on a long weekend for a business trip?

We'll see about getting home...my flight dates got messed up in booking. Should have been set to leave friday night but they mixed up the dates and booked it for saturday night (trying to get them to change it tomorrow). Never know, could work out for the better!!!lol.....
