Clotheslining Seagulls
Great session down on the texas gulf coast today , i tracked about 30 miles in under 3 and half hours.
only issue i had was hitting seagulls with my lines. hahaa
none of them were injured but they did do a few summer-salt spins mid air.
im gonna start clipping on neon orange tape on my out side lines.

I've posted before about hitting a few terns in the arse to have them tumble and fly away harmlessly. It concerns me that someone might see this and
complain. I will try to maneuver around them now or turn around when I see a flock.

Flying my 2m Beamer static at the fairgrounds, I looked up to see a turkey buzzard circling over, every now and then dropping down to get a closer
look at this crazy flying, green and black "bird" .

I got OSPREYS at my spot. So far no probs. But if one of them was to have a go at my kite it would deystroy the kite. And they are not scared at all,
merely curious so far.

Some of the best times ive had golfing were shooting balls at the damn gulls... it is always soooooo satifying to hear that magical sweet spot PINK!
noise, then look up to see a bird go down...
i know that sounds bad, but if you had to fight the bird s**t i have to to play a round, you'd get the same enjoyment...
I think if i nailed one with my lines i wouldnt be able to stop laughing...
The osprys tho.. thats scary, those are huge birds

I nailed one with lines flying my P4 15m static down in Saint Petes Beach.
it was pretty funny. I was standing there and a flock fighting over a little fish flew into the area I was at. there was 3 birds all contacting the
fish and all 3 of them managed to smack square into my lines and the fish went plop in the sand. I thought it was pretty damn funny. they never did
get the fish back after that

Where I kite there is somewhere in the order of about 20 to 30 Osprey's on light wind days they seem to flock to my kite and try to work out how those
big colourful birds stay in the air without flapping it's wings. I have had a few near mid air collisions with a few of the younger more curious ones.
Then on days when there is a bit more wind they will either follow along behind the kite or try to race it.

I hit one unintentionally 7 months ago and I managed to get it on film.
Now If I see one heading my way...I usually shake the kite to make some noise to scare it away.
it usually works.

Sorry to get all serious here, but.... Besides kitebuggying, I also volunteer at Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on the north Oregon coast. Almost
everyday they have birds (mostly seagulls, terns, cormorants, etc...) brought in with injuries that were sustained by people intentionally trying to
hurt them! (mostly drivers) Most joint injuries to their wings (the kind kite lines can cause) are irrepairable. It doesn't kill them, but leaves
them in excruciating pain. Most of those have to be euthanized.
Now whether you care about that or not, understand this. Willfully harming non-game wildlife is not only immoral, it's ILLEGAL!! There are people
just looking for a reason to ban kitebuggiers from beaches, and guess what? You're giving em one!
Now if you hit one accidentally, and it's injured, Stop, and do something. Call a wildlife center, or park ranger. If you're own sense of right and
wrong doesn't persuade you to do so, maybe the fact that someone else may be watching, will.
Share the space with birds. After all they kinda were there first.
