hq crossfire 2 5M

Hey guys,
New to the forum, I have a beamer 3 meter for past half year now, and was thinking about getting a crossfire 2, 5 meter for jumping. Is it a pretty good kite for jumping and landing safely (floaty) it seems like it has a high aspect ratio, its 4.4 flat, projected is around 3.0. Or should I get the 6.5? Your assistance is greatly appreciated! i have been hearing great things about the blade 5, however it seems to be more expensive. Is there anything around the price of a corssfire 2, 5 meter thats even better for jumpin?

Can you give us your typical winds you would be flying in and your body weight?

PL twisters are another lifty jumper's kite.

Yes body weight and local winds are good for better advice...

You do know jumping is essentially unsafe, right?

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

I don't know if you can still get them but I really like my ozone riot 5.0. It is lifty with float. Never flown a blade, twister or crossfire.

Sorry, i forgot to mention the details. I weigh about 155 lbs, and the winds in my location vary quite drastically on a day by day basis. I live in chicago, there are days where the wind wont go past 5 miles an hour, days where its 10-15 and times when people are being blown througout the sky :wow: (it is called the windy city!).Anyways, yes i know how dangerous it is, and i want to only take it out when the winds are at about 5 miles an hour to start out with. So is the crossfire 2, 5-meter good to choose or should i start with a 6.5 meter crossfire? Or are there anything better for the same price for jumping with? THanks!

Hi
I have a 6.5m Crossfire. I've only flown it in 10-12mph winds. Its one powerful kite though. In 5mph winds it will be frustrating trying to keep it in the air. In 10-15mph it will be a blast. I've found the Crossfire II can over fly the zenith quite easily so they need to be flown on the brakes a little, must bear this in mind when jumping , you wouldn't want the kite to luff mid jump. I must add that i am 240-250lbs so it won't lift me as easy as you but given the right wind speed i'm certain i could get good air with this beast.

you need a 6.3 Crossfire 2007 or New 2009 5.0 Crossfire

I am 155 too and fly in Chicago
Dont buy a 2.5 Crossfire you are not going to Jump , only with +20MPH

The 6.3 crossfire 2007 very inexpensive (maybe $200) o the new crossfire 5.0 (2009) , if you are around 155 , you should go ok with 6.3 or 5.0 (2009) (fly at the beginning only with 5-8MPH) i go until 20MPH with a crossfire 6.3 only in sand Huge JUMPS ! i dont like blades extrem liting !! becarefull in jumping
the crossfire 07 has a lot lifting but with gusty winds collaps a lot ! (the 2009 Model no collapse the made a better cells are always open) the crossfire is fun to fly and jump from 8MPH-14MPH always in grass or Sand

i am going to Indiana dunes with 15 to 20MPH i jump high no problem got Sand !
Beamer are good but no lifting almost , crossfire are the next step and are beasts !! Examp: same size beamer and crossfire (the crossfire has 30% more power and 40% more lifting if you jump when run...Crossfire are hard to fly with low wind power...you need +6MPH and perfect with 10MPH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7wNJJd9NUQ
you will not Regret if buy the new Crossfire 5.0 (2009)

There is a bargain on a slightly used 5m CF II on the Coastal Wind Sports page.

Yay, more people from Chicago. Yeah if you're gonna jump here, you need a kite over 5m.

Its been a pretty crappy summer though, not too good of winds in the burbs.

Ive started to refer to the place as the not so windy city.

and im hoping you know how it got its name :wee:

kite decision

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think im going to go ahead and get the twister 2, 5.6 meter. From what i read it seems likte its easier to fly, better for jumping, and cheaper..

You will end up needing a 3 kite quiver with your variable wind.

The 5.6 is a good choice. You can always buy a lrger kite later . Then you will have a full set. If you go to 6.5 it will be too big a gap from what you have got.

I'm planning on giving the 7.7 Twister a second try. I was put off by the bar the 1st time. If it works in low wind it will go well with your 5.6 down the road.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .
