I think we're majorly screwed.
http://media.abcnews.com/m/screen?id=7800447&pid=79
If this is true, we need to work harder than ever to keep ourselves in the air.
Another theory I've heard is that reforestation is also causing this due to the friction between the trees and the wind, either way were screwed

Its slowly going down worldwide.
Kamikuza, in all reality Al Gore doesn't really get taken too seriously around here, he's almost close to Scientology.
Although, I personally believe that everyone should try to go green, for our own personal benefits.
But it reminds me of the UN meeting they had in the UN over the last week, where the representatives came in throughout the world to discuss global
warming. but to get there, they used a "Jumbo-chopper-cade" got that bit from John Stewart... one of the funniest men alive :D...:frog:

It also makes sense based on how weather and climate work, Takle said. In global warming, the poles warm more and faster than the rest of the globe,
and temperature records, especially in the Arctic, show this. That means the temperature difference between the poles and the equator shrinks and with
it the difference in air pressure in the two regions. Differences in barometric pressure are a main driver in strong winds. Lower pressure difference
means less wind. |

Hang on - they know there's going to be no wind yet they're spending all our tax dollars on 'renewable' resources like wind farms? That aint right I'm

thermals operate based off of a temperature difference.
cool ocean vs warm land. warm air rises on land and cool air flows in underneath.
if the cool ocean is all of a sudden the warm ocean then we are kinda f'ed....

But the land will be even warmer and it holds heat longer so ...
Apparently all this global warming will lead to an ice age in the next few decades - cold land, warm oceans ... off-shore breezes? :dunno:

it gets complicated... if the oceans warm up that's a lot more water vapor in the sky, which will cause at the least a couple heavy bands of clouds
ringing the poles. And also if the oceans warm up the currents will go out of whack, and they pump heat energy from place to place, the UK for
example would be much colder without the currents.
i doubt its going to slow down, more likely the world weather will destabilize, the steady wind patterns will go further amok and new ones will arise,
and events like Vancouver's unseasonally heavy winds or HS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s recent string of weekly typhoons will be be more and more common. most of
any overall slowing effect will just disappear in the all the turbulence.
later on we'll get a new pattern going but it's going to be awhile. climate change started in the mid 1800's, but it's just in the past couple
decades that the cumulative effect has begun gathering momentum. best case scenario i reckon peak destabilization in twenty to thirty years and a
century or more before world weather patterns settle down.

So were screwed either way, at least until we can find the right amount of co2 to pump into the atmosphere?

Technically, we could just pump more o3 (ozone) in, co2 would be a removal, yes.

Either way winds are starting to finally pick up here in Cali - looks like the delta breeze will be coming in to full effect for those on the coast
and in the valley. The delta breeze is a local system caused by a heating of the valley which induces colder wind/air from the coast to travel through
the San Francisco bay and up through the delta that feeds the bay - wind likes to travel over water - this will have a great effect for those in the
valley that frequent Sherman Island. Surfs up boys, time to strap your gear on.
As far as Global warming and changing weather patterns - in essence the human race has screwed up for the past century and a half after the industrial
revolution and paid no heed to the consequences of our greed driven actions - we're trying to deal with it but trying to manage an entire planets
economy and policies is and will be a slow methodical mess. Hard to say that I'm doing my part when I have to drive 35 miles to the closest good spot
to fly that gets good winds - kiting is green fun but I don't know anyone that drags their buggy to the beach or to a field by hand. Posting this
very response is adding to my and your carbon footprint (that is if your reading this). How do we change this all? Great question for another forum
- unless someone has a quick simple solution that you can sell to someone else for a profit.

1. Stop using fossil fuels... I know easier said than done in the US, freaking tabbaco and oil companies run the country.
2. use your buggy to get to the beaches instead :D

the weather experts around cleveland area dont believe that global warming exists to the degree that the government wants us to believe, and i'm right
with them.........and the forecast for toledo on monday is winds 25 to 35 with gusts over 40, and tuesday 20 to 30--so i dont care if the winds are
dying--they are certainly alive around here.....and now i am done discussing this ridiculous topic--im going kite flying, and i suggest you all do the

They didnt understand why we needed wind farms in Nebraska, it was windy enough already...

Meh.. its just an expression, it pretty much is like saying whatever or, being indifferent about anything.
Sad thing is i just picked it up from a couple of friends of mine.
It also goes along with the :/... i tend to refer to that as the indifferent emoticon.

I'm always amazed when I run into people who don't know what meh means. It must primarily be a mid-west thing. I grew up in Ohio and we used it all
