6.5 Blade V - Virgin Flight over the Desert
The Mrs. shot some video last Friday that I have edited & shows how my new Flexifoil 6.5m Blade V pulls me around the desert even in poor winds.
The vid. has a couple of interesting points showing how I abuse my buggies in the dunes with a light entertaining aerial display. It should give you
an idea why I build so my buggies so strong.
About 48 secs into the video you will see me stop, jump up from the buggy and start jigging around. I wear shorts while most of the other desert
buggiers being smarter than me wear long pants & for good reason.
Occasionally, some creepy crawly gets flicked up from the front wheel into the open leg area of my shorts & starts wriggling around. I'm always
scared it's a scorpion or some other nasty beast, hence my rapid jerky movements to remove whatever is creeping around on my upper leg.
Scorpions won't kill me but they do give a nasty sting rather similar to a bee's.
I only recently received this Blade V from Flexi, UK and it was its first flight in the desert. I will only determine its true performance once I get
it in a decent wind.
I have named this vid. 'Blade V Jungfenfahrt' from my Swiss-German language meaning the 'Virgin ride of the Blade V'

Most other buggyers only have "dog eggs" to complain about! :P

SY I'm interested in your comparisons between the Blade IV and V.
I buggied 2 days ago at the polo field and had the same issue with grasshoppers. They were jumping up as I approached and my pants legs were catching
them. After 3 of them up my pants leg, I went total geek and wrapped my pants legs up and stuffed them into my socks. Next I buttoned my collar all
the way up. I looked like Steve "Did I do that?" Erckel without the suspenders but the grasshoppers bounced off after that.

Beamerbob, As I said the wind was poor last Friday (my day off) & it's the only time I've been out with it. It's unfair to make a comparison
with it against the IV until I've tried it in decent winds. I also bought a 4.0m Blade V that's not been out of its bag yet. Tomorrow's wind
(Friday) doesn't look very promising either. Towards the end of the year here we get poor winds so have no idea when I will get to try out e 4.0m
Blade V.
We had a weekend in May last year when we were inundated with a load of desert locusts. I took a pic of one shown below.
They look like big grasshoppers and like flying about mouth height when buggying. I was happy to be wearing my full face helmet that day.
