I've been reading into a lot of harnesses out there particularly the Dakine Fusion Seated Harness, and I was just wondering. I currently have this harness being shipped to me with my kite package; after looking into it, I cannot find any examples of this harness being used for snowkiting. Is this based on the premise that a seated harness is more suited for water kiting or will this harness be okay when I finally make it out on the snow with my snowboard. I really don't want to get another harness just yet but if it is gonna make it more difficult to learn then I will have to save for a couple months and get one that works.

It'd be a right dog for snowkiting - over pants and stuff I wear mine over board shorts when I surf and while it's comfy, the leg straps are thin and dig in and if I get yanked they go exploring my lower intestine.

I've got an Ozone XC harness coming for the land stuff ... supposed to be the bee's knees. I also got a Session 2 to replace the Dakine and if that's comfy as a waist harness then it might replace the Ozone

Really, if it keeps you attached to the kite, that's a good start. The primary feature of a "snow kite harness" is that it is cut bigger to fit over winter clothes and maybe has a longer hook to poke through a snow suit in the case of being worn underneath. But this is coming from a guy who flies in shorts and sandals on Christmas Day...

And I should add that after wearing and selling all kinds of harnesses including the wonderful and most expensive Mystic Warrior harness, the one I wear over my shorts on Christmas day is my least expensive Ozone XC Harness, marketed as a "snow kite harness"

I'll second what Angus says. That Ozone harness is roomy enough to get my XL hips and thighs into and then just tighten up the straps snug no matter what I'm wearing. Jeans, shorts, swim suit, wetsuit, doesn't' matter.

I find it comfortable riding with a Mountain Climbing Harness, i guess its pretty simmilar to a Ozone XC harness so i guess it works just fine.

Im looking for a more padded one though, the one im using is an alpine one so its got not padding

I found my climbing harness comfortable when I was on an ATB, it's when I'm in the buggy and have to deal with the side pull that it's less comfortable.

For me as of now i dont plan on buggying, there arent open enough fields close to my house to do that in, if i wanted to id need to go about 50 miles away to find a nice open field which would actually have the grass mowed down enough to ride in.

Yeah! I see what you guys are talking about now. My fusion just showed up in the mail today.(why does it have to make you look like you are wearing a diaper lol :D ) I really can see though how it will be a pain in the ass to wear over winter gear. I found it rather big compared to what I was expecting. I guess I will have to get myself that XC Snowkite harness or something else that will be less restricting when I get out. It really feels though that I would never have to worry about it riding up. Sucks but I guess I will have to hang on to it till the summer time and see if I can find a good priced kite for the water. Thanks guys!
