Howdy Buggy Brethren,
Elmer's can get pretty crowded on the weekends.
As lonely as Mars during the week, but lots of buzzing around most every weekend.
Once a month, the S.C.T.A. has a Speed Weekend and run their hotrods down the middle of the lakebed, some at over 200 mph, and we've found it better
to leave them alone, then.
But the weekend...
Most of us work during the week and getting together means finding a weekend.
If the work is in a kite shop, holiday weekends are when you work harder.
So we decided years ago to gather the weekend AFTER Memorial Day at Elmer's in hopes the motor-crowd got most of it out over the three day holiday and
we can buggy is some relative open and quiet playa.
It's a good plan.
This year, 2005, the "event" happens on June 4th and 5th at Elmer's (El Mirage Dry Lake) in California.
Our usual spot is called "Walt's Cove" and it's about 4 miles down on the right. Just across from Sailor's Bay where the landsailers hang out.
We have nicer windsocks.
I warn you not to set up near Mike (Lack-o-Slack) Dooley in his VW Eurovan camper. He has an uncanny abilty to find the local trove of nails and
broken glass (Dooley's Reef) and now you've been warned.
Bring your shot-car if you'd like to rally.
I am often wrong, but never in doubt.
Safen Up! Buggy On!

Just to let anyone who plans on coming know, the lake is in excellant
condition. Today the wind was 25 to 30 most of the day, and smoothed out around 4. It did not get hot, though the sun was intense!
The upper part where we buggy the most is ultra smooth, especially between the islands where i love to buggy the most.
Winds may be a little lighter this weekend, but still there, i'm hopefull!
Looking forward to reuniting with any buggy brethren and newbies this is the best time to come for sure.
Full aoxomoxoa to be found withoutadoubt.
Praise Dave!

Yes friends, there it was, that great big open playa, wind blowing like stink,
and a few friends out already. Dooley and some land sailors. Couldn't wait to get out, Corey still putting his rig up having also just arrived,
when Dooley comes ripping in, "Naked Chick on the playa!"
We look up, and right in line with us, and sailors bay is a van and two people, one decidely looking pale, which was confirmed by the Lamma's
Binoculars!
It was good last night. Mike was there and cooked us up some cheese burgers from paradise.
The wind was still blowing when i left at 9:30 last night. Can't wait to get back out there.
