Mille Lacs 2010

Hey!

Has anyone heard anything about Mille Lacs kite crossing for 2010? everything I've found is info on old events.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I'd inquire on the LAKAWA site. An organization called Fleet 8 usually puts on the event, so you might research them as well.

UPDATE -

Aaron (rudeboysaude) says 2010 is the last year for the winter xing. He's looking into dates. It's usually early March.

The winter one is cool - can go from crystal clear and working to keep a 15 or 17 LEI up (tubes predominate in MN - the Silver Arrow folks would have loved 2008 xing) to whiteout and blowing, where you can't see where you're going.

The 2009 water crossing was the last one.

Yeah, it's a bummer that it's not actually a Crossing anymore. It's an out and back style race that's easier to keep track of everyone so less support staff is needed. Mike Fox does alot of work for those events. It'll be weird not to have them around, but I'm certain some other type of gathering event will form to fill the void. If I hear of a certain date, I'll post here for everyone.

Another event people should attend is the UMD Snowkite Expo. It's a great event. Probably my favorite in MN. It's February 6-7, 2010 at Island Lake and Boulder Lake in Duluth. Cheap lessons on trainers, demos, winter camping. Lots of fun. There site is here:
