I'm looking into getting a landboard. Anyone use any of these two boards? What is good/bad about either.

I've not riden either of the boards you mentioned, but find Scud boards to be a very nice ride. Trouble is finding them in the states.

I've been riding my MBS Core 16 since last summer. I'm new to the sport and it's the only board I've ridden. Very stable, tracks up-wind nicely, works well in short grass. Remove the brake for kiting, you'll have your hands full with the kite anyway.

Both are great rides. I've spent time Kite Ground Boarding with pretty much every model from both companies. Both offer innovative yet differing trucks. MBS has a dual spring suspension and GI offers a central bushing for suspension. I have found that the GI suspension block seems to absorb more vibration while riding, providing a smooth ride over rough terrain. There are also a dozen blocks available, so the suspension can be customized to your individual weight and style.

Looking new, it seems that GI may be slightly lower in cost side by side with MBS, but that all depends on models and upgrades.

If you are looking at jumping, you'll want to go for the lightweight hubs and tires, Gi Crossairs or MBS rockstars.

I ended up with the MBS Comp 16 Pro. very nice board.......

I just got a mbs core 16 and immediatly stripped 2 of the axle nuts while assembling it as per instructions. The
nuts only have 3 threads that grab. :barf:The rest are covered with nylon (to lock them). Not enough in my opinion. Luckily it looks like only the nuts stripped, not the axle threads, so I am going to get new ones and be more careful next time or use regular 6 thread nuts and a thin lock washer.

Cosmo, you do realize that you do not need to tighten the nuts??? You only tighten them down till they just bearly touch the bearings. If you stripped 2 of the nuts, I would say you must have cross-threaded them. Be extra careful next time when putting them on.
