footpeg grips for PL folder - any ideas?

I'm looking to put some grips on my slippery PL folder footpegs. I've gathered some mtn bike tires and tried to cut through to create a couple of grips but I can't easily cut through the bead of the tire and cutting through the rubber itself is a difficult and slow process as well. So I'm looking for some other options.

I'm wondering if bike handle bar grips would fit the PL footpegs or else if there's some sort of hose in the hardware store that might do the trick.

Check the diameter. You should be able to find Hypalon tubing that would be a viable option due to it's resistance to UV and salt water. Should be available smooth or texture and round or octagonal depending on personal preference.

I installed a set of handle bar grips on my sons PL XR and they worked fine. I'm not sure if the folding PL pegs are the same diameter but I'm sure you could match something up.

you can also get a tape with a grit on it used for stairs. Works great and good grip

Grip tape works great like Wolf said. Just installed it on my new buggy. You could also find some steel mesh and wrap the peg and have someone tack it on with a welder. Lots of grip and sort of self cleaning as well.

Some of the solutions give me pause because of the skin shredding potential. :sniff:

Mountain bike knobby tire cut to length, cut the bead off, punch holes in the edges and then lash it onto your peg. I remember a buggier that used to make these setups but can't remember who it was.:dunno:

So with regards to the skateboard type grip tape, my experience with it on longboards is that the grip disappears rather quickly once the tape gets wet and/or muddy. Wouldn't that be the case too with using grip tape on the bug?

I am leaning towards the idea of the bike bar grips. If the fit on the PL XR Todd, then I'm thinking they may work on the folder as well.

Airin, take a foot peg out and measure it. I can do the same to my son's peg down here and report back if they are the same.

well the tape i got isn't actually for skateboards, it's for stair edging. i just used the skateboard as a common reference. the tape i got has an extremely heavy grit and i seriously doubt that it will wear ant time soon, besides at the price and ease of installation how can you go wrong....? :dunno::duh:

1. Mtn Bike Handlebar Grips
2. Mtn Bike Cut Tire
3. Peter Lynn Rubber Footpeg Grips
4. Tennis Racket Tape
5. Road Bike Inner Tube
6. Spray on grip, someone years back used this, and it stuck like tar.:puzzled:

Ive mounted everything from Sandpaper to Skateboard Deck Tape, and it doesnt last long.

also you will probably want to add Toe Straps later as well, and you can pick all the goodies to build the Toe Strap at Canadian Tire. Next time you`re out we`ll go through it all.

DS360, you have good memory, and i went into the storage and found the set he made me for my BBS Booster (which he later bought from me)

he made some wicked Flexifoil Buggy Seats too.

he works for some kite brand now, and makes some of the coolest single kites around.

You could try shrink tubing. You heat it and it shrinks around something, like a footpeg, and its also made of a rubber like material.

I have seen alot of folks on here suggest tennis racket tape for a lot of things. It seems to be tried and true with a big following. I would go that way first.

I have used a few things and find that hockey tape
works best for me.
the top layer of tape rubs off, gets sticky and picks up
some sand.
And it's cheap
