DBBB 2009 has Moved to SLP.
East beach is under a couple of feet of water. San Luis Pass is looking ok right now. The pre event begins tomorrow at SLP and several people will be
out there.
Please check back on Tuesday next week for an update as to the location of the main event. Brad and Susan were down at both locations today and
reported that SLP should be in good shape.

Don't worry. The event, feast and all, will still go on. It just looks like it will be at San Luis Pass. The pass is just as good as East Beach.

San Luis Pass is at the far West end of Galveston Island. Head down Seawall Blvd 21miles from 61st street. It's about 20 minutes once you get out of
Galveston. Just past Pointe West development there is a toll bridge. Before crossing the bridge take the beach access road to the Ocean side. It's a
bit bumpy, but take it to the beach and camp should be in sight. Usually we camp out West of the access road about a 1/4 mile.
See you there. I should be coming down on Tuesday or Wednesday.

East Beach location would be: N29.32721 W94.73644 or N29.32842 W94.73316
If you look on maps.google.com you will see that there is a new dredging pond now where we used to camp and buggy. On the map it shows as Apffel Park.
They put that in after Ike.
SLP is usually about here: N29.08726 W95.11153

It's official. DBBB will be at San Luis Pass.
The folks at the beach assessed the situation and decided to move the main event to SLP. Camp is set up and we now have a big tent for shelter. East
beach now has obstructions and tide pools making it unfavorable for buggying.

Brad said it was pretty good and packed.
Hey Houston AirHead, you going to come to the feast? Seems last time I was at the beach I didn't see you, but you indicated you were coming. Come on
over from the Bay side and introduce yourself. We've got plenty to eat.

Monday was nice for runs to the water tower and back. SMooth hard pack made for nice speeds in the buggy and a great surface for the mountainboard.
Entrance road is bumpy from all the water, but not a problem if you take it slow.

Didn't get to make it down there until today. My wife took a few pics while we were there. I did a few test flight of my homemade NPW-HA. That's me
with the yellow and red kite. It flew ok but still needs some tweaking with the bridles. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. Should be a
great buggy engine once I get to work right. I hope to meet more people at tomorrow's feast.

We ended up on East Beach with Jeff Howard from KiteBoarding.com in Corpus Christy with the sponsored Mt. Dew and Pepsi team flying their brand new
custom Octane kites, Blake Pelton and Olivia all the way from Colorado flying Peter Lynn foils and Gale and Dick Bell, founders of the Dead Bird Buggy
Blast were there riding their Blowcarts and flying their inflatables. Large 200ft Pro-form kites were in the air with a massive inflatable alligator
taking a bite out of the wind.
The perfect straight on smooth winds made for excellent kite buggy and surfing conditions on the north side with fast, solid flats. In the evening the
wind died down and made conditions perfect for the paramotors to take off and rule the air and beach. The sunset was perfect way to end the day at the
beach.
There were a lot of spectators hanging out and everyone had an excellent time.
We went back to the hotel and shook the sand off in time to eat an awesome dinner at Landry's. Then the 5 minute drive back to the hotel for a end of
the day party in the jacuzzie. :moon:
Can't wait for more fun tomorrow.

Kiteboarders and Show kites on the east end, and power kiters and buggy's on the west... Sounds like the Island was put to good use
I know on the west end I've seen Ozone's, Libre's, Flexifoils, PKD's, Peter Lynn's, Flysurfers, Quadrafoils and NPW's powering buggy's and
mountainboards. As always a variety of flying styles and colors fill the air.
SLP is more remote, so it adds and extra 20~30 minute drive time to visitors staying in hotels. Either way.. looks like nice southerly breezes
will be returning for Saturday.
