No but it gives me some ideas- zip tying to my bridle kind of worked but the camera tended to flip around a lot.

Not averse to spending money.... it's just that that's about 1/2 of an Ozone Access SB Harness and 1/4 the price of a Turbo Bar. Heck..... It's about the same price as a Peter Lynn Kite Leash Pro w/ Handle-pass System. Price just seems high for what it is because it is a one off, and there is no competition.

I have spent more on pencils, but there was generally a whole lot more tech involved.

There's something to be said about "the perfect pencil". I can't say I've spent more than $44.99 on one but definitely more than the average bear might. The expensive ones taste better ; )

& I used to do a lot of sketching. And before we go there, sketching and CAD aren't mutually exclusive.... the former doesn't require me to schlep a laptop around an airport looking for an outlet. Things got converted to CAD once I was done with about 80-90% of my edits.

If you aren't into (fanatical about) writing instruments, it would be the same as trying to describe why we spend the amount of money we do on kites, safety gear, Wichard shackles , etc. to someone who doesn't fly.

Anyway... the pencil in question is a Faber-Castell TK-matic 0.5 (yeah.... probably named by someone who later went onto to name kites). Stainless steel barrel, dual-knurled grip, and fully automatic (lead is dispensed as you write without having to press the plunger at the back of the pencil except when first loading it). Absolutely perfectly balanced.... has some heft, and just feels "right" in your hand.

Somewhere along the way it became a bit of a cult item. What was bought for $40-$45 then, now goes (if you can find them) for North of $200-300.

FWIW: I am using the same TK-Matic now as I did 20+ years ago.

Have similar quirks about knives and EDCs.

I apologise as well Kam, But I have to add that I love my long hair and beard and as odd as some folks in the world find it. I only regret it on bad days at work. I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and I some days find myself covered head to toe in oil and grease. I keep it tied up very well but sometimes the worst can happen! And it's very hard to clean out of all this hair of mine!!

But GoJo is cheaper by the tub/barrel.

I tend to go cheap and with multiple replacements ... I got about eight MS FFB joysticks in the cupboard cos I saw them cheap in a used stuff shop - paid $5 for each. They go on eBay for $150 but I'll never sell 'em :D Simming is my winter geekiness ...

What I usually do is load up an old Duty Free bag, give it to the wife then check in separately ... although the only country we have REAL trouble with weight limits is bloody New crappy Zealand ... bunch of nazis!

Alas, I don't think the Duty-Free bag trick works when you are travelling within the borders of a country, but it would be worth it just to mess with their minds. Muuuahhhhh!!!!

Baking soda to clean grease and oil out of hair is a proven methed. And it costs about $0.50 per pound box. And I use it in the laundry for my work cloths as well.
I have a photo light welding helmet I use about daily that cost a whopping $45.00 SAWWEEEEET!

And my coworkers think I'm nuts to let the customers use my $7 pen, but my theory is that people only pocket the cheap pens if its a good one thay (almost) allways hand it back.

WeldNGod, I have used those sweet hemets as well. And they are indeed nice. And the screen is far larger and a bit quicker.
But the sad fact is I am just to damned cheep to buy one! Plus thats all the more I can spend on toys.
