My First Flysurfer
Hey all
I finally got a Flysurfer. Everyone here makes them sound so great and now I'm out a grand. LOL
Anyway I unrolled it in the basement for a look.
And.
I have questions.
I'm used to inflatables so usually the bar is taken off the kite and when I get one I can check everything. So with this one I'm going to go to the
lake when it's frozen and fly it. No inspection cause my house isn't big enough to unroll the lines.
Anyway my question. What is the little red thing on the bar that is on a small line that hangs under the chicken loop.
I kind of think it's a safety but I can't unroll the lines to look at the bar.
The line it's on is longer than the chicken loop and has a ring about the middle of the line. The red thing is some kind of quick release but how does
it work ?
If this makes any sense to any of you Flysurfer people and you can help I'd appreciate it before my maiden voyage.
I'd post a picture but thats also out of my league.
Thanks in advance
John

What flysurfer did you get?
The red thing is the quick release, push it away from you and will goto the fifth line if its a psycho4...Your leash attaches to the small ring just
under the red thing at the top of the chicken loop.
They are really easy to get going just have a look over the bridles for any obvious snags, follow the instructions in countless videos or your manual
and you'll be fine When you pack it up, fold it in half, make sure all the lines
are inside the kite, and roll the kite up (some people roll the bar in the kite but i like to keep it outside the kite so it doesn't stain it...
Eventually you'll LOVE that the bar and lines stays attached, i HATE HATE HATE having to disconnect and reconnect my bar and lines on my inflatables
now, i always screw something up like that, but i unpack and launch my flysurfers in about 3 minutes

It sounds like the red thing he is referring to is the quick release on the fifth line. In which case you don't want to pull that unless you want to
cut the kite away from you. It would be nice to know what kite / bar you have as the infinity bar is different than the Pulse II bar which is my
frame of reference for my answer.
Pull primary safety = yes.
Pull 5th line release = no unless you want to separate from the kite entirely.
Depower Quiver: 14m Gin Eskimo, 10m Gin Eskimo III, 6m Gin Yeti, 4.5m Gin Yeti (custom bridle and mixer)
Fixed Bridle Quiver: MAC Bego 400, JOJO ET Instinct 2.5 & 5.5, Lil Devil 1.5, Sting 1.2

The red one just opens the chicken loop and releases the kite on the fifth line IF your leash is attached to ring (Which it should be unless you're
riding suicide), if not the kite will be set free :D

I removed the little fuse between the the 5th line and and the ring on my Infinity bar
not strong enough when you release and you may loose the kite

Hey Again
Thanks for the replies.
Sorry I didn't say what I got. It's a Pulse 2 12 meter.
Right now it only has FLS safety, but I'm likely going to order FDS shortly.
Thanks for the info, when I folded the kite back up I put the bar in the kite, never thought it would stain the kite. I'll have to take it out Thanks
domdino.
Anyway it sounds like it's a QR of some sort. Will be nice to stretch things out and have a look.
This is a trial for the winter and to see how Flysurfers work.
If all goes well I think I'll need a Speed 3 for lightwind, but thats way off.
Thanks Again
John
