need info on instaling lines on my new charger

hey guys !!!!

finaly took my 12m charger out on the week end :)
man what a kite just amazing..
but as the title says !!!!!!:puzzled:

i've looked at carls video and tried to find info but nothing
and i've had almost every other PL arc before that.
my prob is with the bottom lines/control/blue

the top centre lines have the usual pigtail knote that you larkhead the flying line to it !!simple !!!

but the bottom ones unlike the synergy where you had the kook knot thingie.you find the 3 knots to adjust the vpc system but the end is a loop like the flying line ??? no knots.

i've added the extesion as say the manual and the end going to the kite has a sort of knot on the flying lines end inside the loop sleeved part.
the only quick way is to do the larkhead knot with the large line on the kite wraped onto the flying lines.
but this resulted in a line coming off in flight :puzzled:

i reatatched it again pulling tight on it then took off and did some realy nice runs, but damn i'm affraid it may come off again (not fun)

now is the charger suppose to come with kook knots ?? like the syns or we have to install the lines like the extensions ??
this would make it complicated if you wanted to remove your bar afterwards..

ohh and the bar is amazing

it just seems odd to me doing a larkshead knot with a bigger rope (the kite part) on a smaller line should be the other way arround..

hope i make sense hehe not sure how else i can explain this

thanks for any help you can give

steff

Yea, you are setting up your charger the right way. the rear lines are knots on the lines and larkheads on the bridal. there is no need to use the extensions, just make sure you pull the larkshead tight and it wont slip off.

Mood: wanting a Charger

short lines is a bit of a "trend".. the pro's go with short lines, because this gives a more direct control feeling. and the "pro's" never seem to have light wind situations ;-)

i like the system with extension lines to some degree. what i do NOT like is that the extension lines are mostly stupidly short! if i want to extend the low end of the kite, why not put 7 or 10 meter extension lines on?
for example, on my naish helix tube kite, the gave me 20 meter lines and 4 meter extensions. why not 10 meters or at least 7 meters? stupid... so i never did put my extension lines on the kite, because i thought the small difference is not worth the hassle...

Kites:
Tubes: Ozone Zephyr 17 * Naish Helix 2009 10.5 qm * Cabrinha Access 2003 9qm * Wipika Hydro 2001 9qm *
Arcs: PL Scorpion 13, 16 qm; PL Synergy 10 qm
open cell: PL Twister I 7.7 * PKD Buster II 3qm
Paragliders: Gradient Bright Classic (with check) * Swing Mistral 1 (groundhandling) *Advance Alpha 3 (groundhandling)

20 / 23 is becoming the new standard for kitesurfing ... with short lines you can increase the top end more. add the extensions and you increase the bottom end by a few.

15 is the also the new racing standard for FB Foils. But beginner foils are now being supplied with 20m lines.

why have short extension lines, honestly a few meters makes a difference. sounds weird but thats where all your money into buying that kite went into the hours of R&D.

Thanks for the replies :)

Happy to see I did it ok hehe
I think I may add a little piece of flying line in the knot to make it bigger to prevent it from slipping out again...
I will wrap it and knot it up and see what that does...

I will try it out with out the extensions to see how it goes,I'm used to 25/27m lines but man was the kite fast and responsive with the extra 3m :)

Thanks again guys

Steff

The two kites I always use were in the past 13m and 16m v1/v2.
So I changed them for 12m-15m syns
I had a 8 and 10 but sold them because someone wanted them :) hehe
But rarely get winds to use smaler kites ..
The 12m vortex I bought as an emergency kite !!!!!
When I sold my 12m syn to a guy in russia the charger was slow getting released so I grabed that nice vortex just in case ..and keeping it to teach newbies on it because it's perfect for that ... And may find myself selling it to one of them at some point hehe

Lately we are getting lots of strong winds so I'm probably going to get a 8m charger so would have 8,12,15 quiver I'm only 150 never needed to go bigger for now :)
If the winds are to light for my 15m then it's not worth going out ...in my erea anyway ..but may try a 19m v2 some day I see some for sale here and there :-o

For insane winds I have the smaler kites to play with...
