To attach a picture to a post, use the Attachment feature when editing a new post or reply. You can select the file from your hard drive using the "Browse" button just about the "Post Reply" and "Preview Post" buttons (see attached picture, referenced section is highlighted in red).

The downside is that you can only have one attachment per post and it must be 1MB or less.

The alternatives would be to post it to the PKF Picture Gallery or to host it using something like "TinyPic.Com" and use the [img] tag within your post.

Sam

Use the edit icon in the upper right of the post and then look for an attachment button. That's how I do it at least - gotta post then edit to add a pick. And yes I know that you can paste a link from an online picture account - just saying that's how I do it for instant things like this. (that's a smile, you can kinda make out me beard)

I just did the edit / add photo trick for another post, just:
1) write the post, put it up on the thread
2) click the edit icon in the top right corner of your post
3) use the browse button to select the photo, once you click on "open" in the browse window it's done! and finally
4) click on "edit post" at the bottom of the edit window and it's done.

btw, the photo will not show up if I try to preview the post before clicking the "edit post" button at the bottom, right next to the "preview post" button.

must be frustrating... try U2Uing me and/or flexi with what you are doing, maybe we can help?

edit... seems like image size was the problem... Cool to have the links to the full size images directly in the thread, keep scrolling...

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

Snowspider, you got my attention. I have issues with my knees and don't know how much longer i'll be able to keep snowkiting in a regular fashion (with skis) but I love it so much i really don't want to quit. This looks like it could be a viable alternative.

My big question is, HOW WELL DOES IT WORK???? Please share your experiences with us using this thing.

Thanks!!

the reason Ive been tinkering with these for 3 winters now is because I dont trust my knees. Its definately a lake sled. It has approx 9" of clearance which is probably not enough to keep it clear in deeper snow. Ive had full comfortable control at 40-45mph and could have gone faster with more padding and bigger nads. I had 200cm skis on last year, Im starting out with 160cm parabolic skis this year just to see how they do under all conditions but Ill probably put on 200s for go fast conditions. Ill be at Kitestorm and should have some video before then. I built 5 of them and would trade for a 7m foil, I've got a 5m and 9m but Im really needing that in between size. Ill keep you posted

So....you are saying you've gone 45mph with this while being pulled with a kite??? How does it do going upwind? Can you hold a decent edge when it starts to really blow or in semi-icy conditions? I want to see some video!

I had it at Sandbar near Burlington VT this w/e . Sat was very mild conditions 9.5m way down in the window cruising along easily. Sunday was a whole diff story. I had 200cm old style skis on and my 5m foil ,the winds were strong in close to shore and howling further out. I was able to cruise back and forth just out from where everyone was lauching and at one time slowly tacked maybe 1/2mile down wind to tell my kids not to venture off into Canada. I had no problem tacking back up against 20-25mph winds. I have not had time to figure out the gps I just got so no speeds for you . Wind speed in close was around 20 with 25mph gusts and further it was signifcantly higher. the last guy out there from what I understand was looking to break 50mph on 5m lei,the ice had a little surface roughness but was skatable. The little rascles were supposed to get towed behind me to video but they're hard to catch some days. Ill keep trying to get it all together.

Nice buggy snowspider! Can't wait to see it at kitestorm! I just had one quick question,,,,,,, do you hotwire when your riding it? If not how do you keep yourself in the seat? The seat doesn't look that deep. Congrats on an interesting and innovative design:thumbup: Kitestorm's almost here:wee:

Spped record

So the guy we were watching out on his 5 meter Waroo did beat 50 mph:
http://www.stormboarding.com/speedranking0910.html
(I was the guy out on the ice with my buggy)
Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any ideas on "studding" tires so I can ride the buggy on ice with a bit more control?
Make sure you sharpen the edges on the snowspiders as the lake took a bad hit from the rain last sunday. Solid glare ice as far as you can see.

To ghetto-stud any tire-(from my trips to the ice races)
get extra tubes&tires, get coated(galvanized) pointy things, place on inside of tire pointing out, push through tire.

I've seen a variety of things made into spikes, 3" wood decking screws all the way to 1/4 long self-tapping metal screws. One person had used flanged roofing nails, the ones that go up to a 1"x1" square? Swore by them, many people rely on the "grip" of the screw to hold it in, but high tire pressure+ innertube kept those mounted well enough.

I, personally, have not studded any tires, so I can only tell you what I have seen.

Hi all, I just wanted to add that Pat was up on the hill yesterday, and I didn't have my camera. :( I watched (with not just a little envy) as he rode back and forth across the wind, at a very tricky site, I might add. True, the deeper snow in spots hampered his manuverability some, but he did a good job with his 5M. (There is a corner on that lot that just sucks a kiter in, and won't let them out!)

kteguru I hook the chicken loop to a carabener thats attached to a small flexable stem on the sled , the kite is pulling the sled I'm just allong for the ride. My leash is hooked to the kites brake. Not wishing to totally risk life and limb I tend to run underpowered and generaly stay horizontal. Going vertical with 33# harware hanging off my arse is probably not a good idea.
Bob I learned a lesson about getting boxed in last year on the ice at Onondaga lake when I thought I could make a turn close to shore and snagged a tree. The last shreds of that proud beamer finaly blew off this past fall.
