ski boots or not???

Do I ware ski boots Kiting or use regular boots that give your ankle room to move like from the sand skiing site? This is the most snow VA has gotten in many years, and the are calling for more.

I bought some great skis from a garage sale here for $15. Don't need a lot of dough...just the snow!

Ski boots all the way, if you can drop the back all the way gives you a little more movement.

I think he means rear-entry boots so give you better movement in and out of the boot....you still want to lock 'em down on your feet. If you can, find some with either a "walk" mode or very loose-ish flex at the ankle.

Do you know how to downhill snowboard, or ski? They two discplines on snow are very different. Its probably easiest to start with something you already know. If you know neither, go with what feels more natural to you... :)

I'm not sure I understand the question exactly. If you're on skis what else would you use but ski boots?

Anyway a ski boot is you're first interface for controlling the ski. Loose, sloppy boots=Loose, sloppy control. You want the boots to fit well and snug so the skis do what you tell them when you tell them.

There are different levels of fit and different shells fit different ways. Boot fits are a very technical thing. It's not as easy as "I wear size 9 Nikes I'll get a size 9 Ski boot."

I wear a size 10 street shoe and I ski a size 8 Boot shell.

Bad boot fits suck. You'll get cold or cramped or blisters all kinds of stuff.

Ive skied about once a year Since High school. This is the first time with skis & a kite. I'v seen skiing on sand using army boots in the standard bindings. This much snow is an anomaly in this part of VA so I was jest making sure. Sat 15 mph wends + more snow = FUN

PS. snow boards Are Out. My feet don't work well when they are strapped together Skis & roller blades work fine though

If you can ski without looking like a Funniest Home Video winner you're gonna rock it with the kite. I found it easier than downhill.

There's more skills you didn't even know you had that creep out when kite skiing. Any time you've spent on rollerblades or ice skates helps. If you've ever waterskied, that'd help too. I see some doom wheels in your sig.

You're set dude. No problem at all I'd bet.
