Kitestorm next weekend.

Comming up next weekend.

http://www.stormboarding.com/kitestorm2010.html

I was there for Girlstorm (riding, not participating) last weekend and got some good riding in. Needed the edges for sure.

There's a ton of ice but like a lot of places not much snow. I saw some snow on the radar for Burlington this morning so it should make the surface a little more user friendly.

Should be a good time as always. Be there or be square!

Any word on their snowfall from the storm last night? I'm all booked up and looking forward to it but I'm feeling foolish about leaving the 8" of fresh pow that finally fell on my lake just to drive 3 hours for glare ice. I really hope they get some snow up there.

I'll be riding local this weekend if anyone's not going. I went out to my lake this morning and it looked great. Likely taking tomorrow off so I can ride before the snowmobiles track it up and then hit it again this weekend.

Can't wait! Kitestorm is finally here :singing:. See you in Vt. kiteNH. How much snow did you guys get B-roc? I'm going out friday for a run on Lake Massabesic. Hopefully the snow is less than 6".

We got about 8" in my backyard, maybe a bit more. As of this morning there was no slush under the snow on the pond and the snow was fluffy so hopefully it will settle to a nice compact base.

Massabesic is nice. That's the first place I ever kite skied. If I wind up taking Friday off instead of tomorrow afternoon, I'll try and meet you there but things look better for me tomorrow afternoon.

Massabesic is in Manchester right? I used to drive by it for work every day. I only tried that spot once last year but the wind was super gusty and the surface was terrible so it didn't work out well at all. Do you guys launch out of the park near the traffic circle?

More importantly what is the intel on snow for kitestorm? I'd settle for 6" so you ice buggers can have your fun too. Looking forward to checking those ice cruising machines out.

I was going to drive up Friday morning to get to the Sandbar by Fri afternoon but at this point it looks like I might be better off staying home to ride and driving up in the afternoon.

Massabesic is in Manchester not too far off the highway. I parked in horribly bumpy dirt lot with all the snow mobile guys. The spot looked like it would be a beach in the summer. I haven't been up there since I started flying on Mascuppic which is much closer to me and has multiple places to park.

Lake surface update

Things are looking up! We got a "dusting" last night on the lake, but that's all we needed to change things around! It got into the mid 30's temp today and it made the dust totally edgeable. Not good for boards, but great for skis.
The surface should now allow any new snow to stay put and not blow off. Tomorrow winds 15-25 and currently Saturday 10-15. If we get another inch it will be good for snowboards too.
See you up here

Kitestorm started off slow but finished up rockin. Rudeboy was there with a quiver of Peter Lynn Chargers to demo and a bunch of people were out. Best Peter Lynn Demo I've seen at Kitestorm.

Thanks A. for comming out.

The races were slow as hell Saturday but fun all the same. Sunday the wind finally came in and the races were great. Lots of action!

A ton of people came out to ride and race and the surface was really good.

Thanks to Rachael at Stormboarding and her family and friends for putting on the event. It was shakey ground there at the beginning but it all came together. Can't wait till next year.

Was that you? I saw that crazy proto looking kite whipping around. I've never seen a PL get thrown around like that before. Very zippy for sure.

Yesterday was snowkite heaven. I've never kited in winds so smooth and consistent without being at the beach in an onshore breeze. What I wouldn't give to be back out there right now.

Hehehe, you should see it go when it's windy.

The winds were great yesterday for sure. I've seen the winds even smoother before but the wind we had yesterday was still way smoother than we usually get in North Conway area.

Only thing close we get is on Umby or Winnepesaukee.

I'm glad we didn't get skunked like on Friday and most of Saturday.

I bet it's awesome at Champ right now.

The weather yesterday was a real gift! Mother Nature, the Wind Gods, whomever, was watching out for us. It's 42 degrees and getting slushy at Sandbar as I write this. The good news.....some REAL snow is coming this week. You want to have a great day on Lake Champlain come after a dump with North winds blowing 20+ and....well you get the point.
It was great to see so many kites in the air. The Flysurfers and Lynns definitely ruled the lake this weekend.
It was also a real treat to see the buggy contigent show up.
Good times!

last year on sunday the wind was in the morning, those guys said you should hve been here 2hrs. ago .dan and i watch the weather said it was going to drop in the after noon.we were the first people out there 7/30 am not counting the pl guys who slept out on the lake. it was my best time snow kiting. dan took off on the libre ice-buggy on a 4 meter jojo, he was just gone. so i started out on dean's flexi 2seater on tires not a sole around riding quite well.it was a hoot, like doing donuts in a parking lot, on my 6meter jojo ,it was like your firsts you never forget ,360s, going here and there not a care cuz there was nobody around. that was such a blast.dean called dan to say those tires are just finger tight, i come back to camp and im' so close to losing a tire ,that would be a first i would not like category.then i went out on skis on a 6 access then a ten frenzy i had a wicked good time all before 1pm.took some pics, put up a bowl to make it festival then jump on the ice-buggy now im' rocken, im' in my element" wee hoo" cuz it about speed baby ,dean took first honors in that with our group.the best part was sharing all that with your friends with way to many clothes.thank you Rachael for puting on a great event and chris and craig from hq for the demo of12.5 montana 5 that made my day saturday. david, nick ,adam, jay YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE.HA HA HA you guys left to early.wicked good time
