Point Reyes

I may be going down to Point Reyes this weekend (Sunday). Winds will be in the mid 20's to possible 30's. Low tide is at 4:08 so should be runnable from about 11:00 till dark. I'm thinking that there won't be any rangers patrolling due to the state budget shortfall. Any takers?

PS this is all highly speculative since this is still 6 days out and things will most likely change - but hey lets stay positive.

I'd be all over that but will be returning from Charleston SC that day. I"m going to try out a local field I've spotted at lunch today. 13mph WNW. It's beside the interstate so I could either end up in the paper or in jail or both. Let's think positive!

Hmmm. Possibly. I could go for some nice smooth onshore winds.

I'm guessing the North Western facing part of the peninsula. Haven't been there yet but 2 things are a go for trying it out - wind and tides. I did check out Dillon beach this last weekend - was sunny, too sunny - lots and lots of people. Was manageable to get around them to the south end of the beach for some speed runs. Winds were 28 to 35 - epic speed runs. Figure Point Reyes won't be nearly as crowded.

AD72 - you could actually fly your pulse for once - not to mention I could give you a full tutorial on your phantom.

Yes please teach me the ways of the Arc. I flew the Phantom yesterday in gusty, treetop-waving conditions. I did not try it in the buggy yet. I need to get a wee bit more comfortable with it. It is cool how it just wants to go to zenith.
Thank you for holding on to my Pulse. I wanted to keep it away so I would not be tempted to sell it in the down time. I have got to get back to trying it out on the water. I don't think I will be flying that one on land in 20-35mph.
How do you like the 12M Phantom?

The 12m performed great - nice upwind - handled the gusts well - but the real surprise was the 8m venom that I've had for the past year - I took it out once and had a bad experience with it right after I had bought it - but this last weekend I tried it out when the winds started picking up and it handled the torque and gusts beautifully. I've had a good experience with my quiver over the last 2 outings - able to fly everything and had fun with them all in the different conditions - and not one problem.

from my past visits to the northern beaches of PR the beaches are extremely steep. But with all the winter storms and such maybe they are different now. I won't be able to make it but you guys have fun and let us know how it goes.

Point Reyes is my first option, Dillon Beach is second - will most likely be crowded like last time - but was still fun (33 miles North), and finally Salmon Creek (45miles North) as a tertiary. Looks like Saturday is still holding (17mph on msn - translates to about 30mph) - Sunday is starting to drop off (15 down to 13mph). So are there any definitive takers?

Kites, buggy and wind on a beach VS. my kids birthday and pissed off wife!

I am still weighing the consequences! Any other weekend and I would meet you on freeway as you passed through! Post again if your going down any time after this!

Turns out I'm giving it a pass - looks like the winds will be tapping the 40's - not my style - going to keep it local and go over to Davis Saturday. If you get the chance, try out Dillon beach during the week - tide really doesn't matter there too much and there won't be many people compared to the weekends.
