Ken's Sprint 5 meter review

Great Kite, Buy it!

haha, no really finally got a static session in with her in about 12-16 mph winds. for about an hour.

1. very stable
2. very predictable
3. fast
4. jumps good too
5. tricks very good
6. yes i know its a race kite
7. yes i spell words wrong on purpose
8. yes it will fall down the window if you spill the air from her guts

9. have your larks head about 1.5 inches from the handle on the power lines. (leader lines) thats the sweet spot.

its like flying a big body cadillac or a Buick.
But once you got her dialed in, its a super sick kite, freaking awesome kite to be precise

I got her from cheezy, i havent gotten to take her down to he beach yet, but will soon. Im going to be pootin some miles in on my landboard with it.

Newbie question for ya.

What does this do to change the flight of the kite? Does this do something on all kites?

It changes alot of flight response. If you make the powers shorter then you take tension off the brakes. If your brakes are too long ,you will over fly the edge alot. If your brakes are too tight, it won't want to fly at all. And yes it works on all my FOILS. Don't know about all the newfangled kites though.
I use a custom set of handles I made ,that have several knots on both brake and power lines. So no matter what kite or conditions I have, I can compensate for it.

Ok...so effectively the change Houston made would be the same as changing which knot on the bridle my brake lines are attached too.

I have been part of the Pansh Race team and will be bringing the mark 2 version with me when I hit Canada in a few days. Much faster than the original, way better bridals and way better material. It took us a year to do changes and get Pansh to make us a few sets to the spec we wanted

good to see this thread back up, yes i can tell you put some thought into the bridal design.

I have to be honest at first flight, having never flown a race kite before i was baffled.

after about an hour of flight time, i had her dialed. all i have done is landboard with her but at high speeds.

flying in about 6-10mph, i was hauling some serious tail with my mbs.

right now i have her on 50 meter lines, yes 50 5-0 meters.

dont ask me why i did it, but curiosity got the best of me.

I can fly in practically no wind, (5 meter)

which has tought me how much wind varies at different altitudeds

@kiteboyza: nice to hear pansh is getting better! what is "mark 2" ? is this the codename for the "sprint II" - second edition? when will it officially sell ?
and - could you give me the weight - kite only but with bridals - of your largest sprint ?

how can one be sure that one buys the new "mark2" version of the sprint, if buying directly from the online shop? or is the "mark2" still a prototype ? bridle looks fantastic! seems to be a real quality step up.

herc, if ya got the fat ,white rope lookin bridles ,then that is the first run. I noticed in KBs pics ,that his bridles are red. So I'm thinking that's the giveaway. I have 2 ver 1s now, be a while before I get another though. They got awfully proud of them, i.e. $$$$$ :dunno:

sorry for the delay but moved continent. The mark 2 is a team issue kite. We had made serious changes on the mark 1 and Pansh made us new sets to our spec. It's not for general release as the team are working more changes, better trimmers etc. When you see one you will know. They also have black tips

I have 3 with me here in Canada as excess baggae is a killer. I have a 3.3m, 5m and 7.4m If you ever coming down my way In Drayton Valley Alberta give me a shout. Will try and hookup with some of the Edmonton guys soon as I sort wheels and get settled

Herc, you will see them at the European buggy champs in Belgium( De Panne) 2011 as we are hoping for a few of the pilots to make the England team and the Scottish teams
