Wanted: Freestyle Landboard Kite
I'm relatively new to this forum and landboarding in general. I have been kiteboarding for about 2 years now and prefer not to use my water kites for
landboarding.
Lately I've been using an HQ Beamer 4m, but I feel extremely underpowered when I go out. I would also prefer a kite set up with a depowerable bar
rather than handles. Oh and before I forget I want to have a freestyle kite
I weight 145, 6'1 need something between this wind range as the wind doesn't get any better than that where I live.
I live in Washington D.C. and will be moving to NY in a few weeks.
Any input will be greatly appreciated ;-)

Where you gonna be in NY? There are a few of us scattered across the state. When you get settled, try to meet up/try out someone elses stuff. I'd
think 7-10M Frenzy/Manta or HQ Montana would probably work great for you, depending on your winds, of course. A lot of folks here would welcome you
to the d'arc side, though.

For that matter, you might have a chance to meet up with some of us who live here in the DC area before you move up to NY. Keep an eye on the DC Area riders thread.

I actually just got a job in Manhattan and will be scoping out places tomorrow and Wednesday. Job starts April 5th, so I'm gonna be up there quite a
bit in the next two weeks. If anyone will be willing to meet up for some landboarding that would be most appreciated
I heard the HQ Montana were great, but I didn't find any used ones for sale on the forum

If you are going to be in Manhattan in May, put the weekend of the 14,15 and 16 of May on your calandar and head to Wildwood NJ, for the buggy bash,
lots of landboarders there, too! edit: probably lots of demo kites, too!

Oops forgot to post windrange 8ish-20 knots.
Oh that sounds awesome. Is it just buggies or are there landboarders as well?

10m Pulse/Pulse 2 would work well in that range and @ 12/13 have you going on water.....................10m Pulse is fast, grunty, uber stable, works
well in the waves, landboard, and a sweet buggy engine too...............def my fav in the quiver...................

I'm hesitant to use foils in water. Never done it, seems extremely difficult to relaunch. I got my inflatables for that. I'm looking for something
strictly to use with a landboard/snowboard. How much damage would a pulse do to the wallet?

There will be some people on landboards at Wildwood, though most are likely to be in buggies.
If you find the Pulse used, I think it'd would likely be 600-1100 depending on version and newness. New a 10m Pulse2 is around 1400. (But don't quote
me on those prices :-D)
I love my Manta and loved the Frenzy that I tried before the Manta, you might look at those too.

Montana 9.5 or similar would be a good fit.
Good luck in the Big Apple. Moved here from there 4 1/2 years ago after 20 yrs. Great city!

You'd be quite surprised at the foil relaunch from the water and trust me - you could get the hang of it well before you were over your head deep -
just fly it on the shoreline and you'll get it down no problem.
That said, I'd have to add an Arc to your list of considerations. The Phantoms and Scorpions are great freestyle toys - the bonus being that if you're
inland and gusty the Arc will absorb a ton of the garbage.

ill start this off with me saying that i ride landboards for peter lynn. i fly arcs not just because of my sponcership but because i love to fly
arcs. i flew arcs for years before i was signed. with that said....................
my recomendation for you is budget dependant. if you are looking to buy new gear then you wont go far wrong with the 15m charger, its the fastest of
the arcs for that size, but as with all arcs, it is stable and handles gust better then most foils. at the bottom end of your wind range you will be
able to cruise and at the top end you will boost huge. depending on skill and style of riding, you will find your sweet spot will be within your
quoted wind range.
if the budget is tight then the 15m synergy is an excellant choice. again , it is a fast arc (but not charger fast) and depending on skill level, you
can loop this arc on land. (i used to). i loved my synergy and only got rid of it when the charger was released.
i would skip the scorpion but this is just a personal choice as i never got on with it myself and try either a 16m venom 2 or a 15m phantom. both are
trustworthy and reliable kites that allow you to freestyle under them and give you the confidence to try new stuff. even though these kites are a few
years old finding a good one shouldnt be a problem as arcstend to stay in good condition for a reeeeeeaaaaaalllly long time.

I have a 10m Flysurfer Speed if you're interested. I've only used it on land, mainly in the winter, and found it works great.
Flying:
3m PKD Buster II
4.9m Blade IV
10m Speed (Soon for sale - any interest?)
13m Psycho3
MBS Razor and old skis
Still to Come:
7m-8m Flysurfer Pulse, Pulse 2 or Psycho3

What exactly is an ARC? How does it perform differently from regular foils?
I was looking at the chargers, but they are expensive new. Any ideas on where to get a used one?
