7m depower foil = lei ?m

I need some help from you inflatable guys. If I have a 7m depower foil, what size roughly would I be looking at in a lei for comparable power?

I think its roughly about a 9m lei from the reading and discussion I've had with others but I wanted to get a bit better confirmation.

The kite in question here is a 7m montana v .

Thanks all

I guess it all depends on the type LEI kite, I use a 7.5m Cult in the buggy from anything from 10 knots and upwards, (best is 15 knots +) it can be worked to make power easily due to the turning speed but once you get apparent wind built up it really starts to come on song. I figure I will eventually add a 9 or a 10m but not much sense using anything bigger than that if your using it in a buggy. Best indication may be to compare projected size of the kites.

I know this is a very broad question. It could depend on many factors to be exact. I'm looking for just a very rough estimation.

In the same conditions, kites are roughly the same caliber as far as aspect ratio and flying style whats the size difference?

example: I would say a 5m apex 2 (depower foil) would be roughly the same power as a 3m beamer (fixed bridle foil) .. not exact by no means but similar and some what comparable. Thats all I'm looking for here.

I would say it would be equivalent to a 9-10m C kite, I flew a 7.5 montana III and it had a great low end for its size. For a bow/SLE, maybe 8-9m. Are you thinking about getting LEIs?

nope .. customer question

Customer asked the difference and I told him I believe its roughly a 2m difference but that I was not positive. He understands the variations also, we a just looking at a rough idea. I will tell someone when I'm not positive about something. I don't want to turn into a used car salesman :ninja:

I'd agree with Powers estimations for the most part.

The general concensus I've heard, of course an overgeneralization, is that an LEI to foil depower is +3m. Which agrees with the above.

My 9m flexi lei and my 5m montana are roughly in the same ballpark. The power/wind curves are way different; given that they are different style and make of kite. The 5m is more powerful in the low end and evens off a bit where as the 9m within the same wind range is pretty flat. But my 12m flexi trumps the 5m montana whole handedly.
