recon bar for pl arc

Has anyone flown an arc with a Cabrinha recon 1 bar? I am trying to set up a bar for a 16m scorpion and I like the idea of the 2 lines safety as opposed to the 1 line, less kite twist when deployed? When setting up a normal bar to fly an arc, with 1 safety line, do you attach the safety to a center line or steering line, I've seen it both ways.

Thanks Ben

The Scorpion came with the zero7 twinskin bar, which flagged to an outside line. But there isn't any major reason that the kite couldn't be flagged on a center line.

What about a recon bar that effectively releases the 2 center lines and lets the kite go on the 2 outside lines? This should prevent the kite from spiraling and make for easier relaunch.

Don't think that'd work well. More likely to work well if both right (or left) lines were released and the left (or right) lines weren't. But as I've never tried it... :dunno:

I agree with Maven. With the back lines connected you could end up with an inverted very powered up kite. I've used front line and rear line safety and really can't tell the difference. Just stall dead downwind or fly to the edge of the window and pull the release.

+1 for not dumping on both rear lines- I do not see that ending well.

Yeah the Chargers are back to front line (just one) safety so it can go either way.

one front line

OR

one back line

has to slide out the length of the kite.

the trim strap is short for a PL so needs to compensated on front line knots on the kite. the sweet spot and back line tension may take a few settings to get a nice range.

All right that makes sense, I won't be trying a 2 line safety and it sounds like front or back doesn't matter so much. Thanks

The Recon bar hardly has any depower throw. I wouldn't bother with it. If you try it, you might want to remove the Powerlock feature from the bar, just in case.

I don't have anything to add to the conversation except that we are both Ben's and probably both Big. Neato.
