Found some good information here as I was looking for advice on what to purchase. Had the thought that I should post here to see i anyone has an old kite I could buy ysed, and save some cash. I live in the 49333 zip.

HQ Symphony 1.4
Prism Slingshot 1.4
Premier Speedfoil 2x

If you've got thoughts on that I'd love them too.

Oh, looking for a delta too, thoug I'm not sure this is the forum for that.

Still not sure which one to get. Nexus, Quantum, HQ Bolero?

I'd be interested in those used too.

If you are looking for dual-lines, you are going to get more hits at www.gwtwforum.com.

The Nexus and Bolero are smaller kites. Will require a tad more wind and will be a bit twitchier in the air. The Quantum is closer to being a full-size dual-line. Probably fine for a 8 year old in moderate winds, but will develop a fair amount of pull as the wind kicks up. The Quantum is also built to take a bit more abuse from unplanned ground maneuvers.

You might get more hits on the foils too, as it looks like the kites on your list are 2 line rec foils and folks here (with some exceptions) skew towards quad-lines.

For a dual line foil that provides a fair amount of bang for the buck you might also want to add the New Tech Thunderfoils to the list. They have the Thunderfoils in 1.4M & 1.7M. The 1.7 will fly on days were the 1.4 will having trouble staying aloft due to lack of wind (something to keep in mind especially if you are flying inland).

I'd always take a 4 line foil over a 2 liner becuase they aren't that much more difficult to learn to fly, offer more finesse control and relaunch easier. I'd recommend something like the FlexiFoil Sting, PKD Buster, HQ Beamer or whatever the Peter Lynn entry level / low aspect foil is (hornet??). They'll cost you a bit more then the foils you listed but if you want to progress with the sport, you'll learn to appreciate the benefit of 4 lines over 2. I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to where the dual line market is at in recent years but probably the best place to ask your question on deltas is on the forum at gwtw-kites.com.

My boys started flying foils when they were 6 and 8 and began on a 1.2 Sting and a 1.5 Li'l Devil.

I got a 1.2 sting for my 6yr old and he loves it. I also got the 1.7 for high-winds. Great kite, super stable. Make sure you get it on handles though, and not a bar. The bar is 2 line-only and does not have aback bridal. If you get the handles then you can always convert to a bar by just not using two lines. The 1.2 is really overly gentle, depending on your winds and weight you could also go 1.7 or 2.4.

My daughter started (when she was 9) with a Flexifoil Rage 2.5m on a bar - very stable kite, a lot of fun to play with. It's really easy to start with a bar instead of handles... and for another $15-20 you can get a pair of used handles to eventually benefit of the full quad line steering options.

Peter Lynn Vibe is my preference over a Symphony. But the symphony is a good kite too....just my preference.

Hey how are you doing I have a HQ Symphony 1.8 That I am willing to part with. My 13 year old son flew it twice on grass. Then he moved to the 4 line.
