did U something new/different

i see lots of blo-karts and that crab buggy were around.
did anyone try piloting these, or other different things (different being u have only done mainly kite/buggy).
i'd like to try a blo-kart. i wonder what the learning curve is to get good enough to have fun...just simple sailing that is. akin to parS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n ride runs.

Didn't try the land sailer but got towed by one (of course it was being towed by a truck  )

Funny though - on the way back from the Out n Back I was leapfrogging with a blokart that was steady-as-she-goes and me, surging ahead with the wind, sliding back in the lulls. THe guy seemed to just sheet the sail and sit back & relax.

For the record, he made it all the way back without a tow. Something about not having to sit there messing with a kite while you wait for the wind? He'd just sit still if he had to and when the breeze picked up he'd start creeping along.

There were Blo-karts at Wildwood last fall. I didn't try one, but the people who did said that they were really easy to pick up.

And blades! Even though I've played roller and ice hockey for 20yrs, it still looks like a whole different beast to combine the kite and the skates; but _very_ cool!!

This was a funny year. Whole days with no wind and then it turned on like a switch for the sun down sessions. I never had time with moderate winds to play with my novel kites like Cquad and NPW . One of the Kiwis gave the blades a try!

I think this year not as much playing around with new stuff got done. The acception was the buggy people shooting for speed with new style wheels and skins.

Lots of folks riding lots of differents stuff but I think most were sticking to what they knew. Often in survival mode! :wee:

powerkite to blokart

As a former kite buggier that has moved to the blokart, I can tell you that there is less drama and less of an adrenaline rush overall, but the blokart can be a blast.
Pros: easy on the body, more seat time sailing, ability to film while sailing and getting great shots of kitebuggiers in action. Racing, the blokart is a one class craft and we race in well organized and evenly matched classes, regatta style.
Production and performance divisions, light and heavy weight classes for each.
Use in a parking lot, no worries about kites and lines.
Cons: higher cost of entry... blokart with sails, (2,3,4,5.5) carbon mast, pod = @5k
basic entry: sport model w/ one sail @2k
Feels like retirement, not as exciting as kite buggy.
