Sunset bound!
Don't know if the wind and the weather is going to pan out for us but we're just a 3 hour drive from Sunset beach! After a bit of lollygagging between
Florence (our current location) and Sunset we're gonna park and enjoy.
If anyone wants to come by for a beer in the Kite Koach let me know so I can make sure they're cold. Looking forward to seeing this playground - even
better with a local tour guide if anyone's around - kite or no kite. Rendezvous with Arkay in Manzanita first - should hit Seaside around 2pm.

You were in Florence? I was out flying at Driftwood shores yesterday, 22 g28mph NNW, went from driftwood north about a mile then down wind 1.25 miles
to North Jetty, and back upwind to driftwood. Good day wish I had some company...
Next time;-)

Ah! Sono#@%$#!un. And I was keeping my eyes peeled all the way. Sucks to be confined to the view from the 101. We're still in Florence, outta here in
the morning after seeing if we can get the little one to melt down on us on the elevator ride down to the Sea Lions
Make sure you let me know if you're one of those early bird types and sneak out in the AM.

Winds will likely be light and E in the morning, but the forecast says that it'll swing west 15/20 around 230 thru 6. If the wind swings, it should
rock! I'll likely head to sunset but will probably just fly a small kite static as I have the kids by myself this weekend. Guess o need to finish that
tandem bracket :D

Bill, I'll give you a shout when we're near Manzanita and if you're thinking of going out to play we can hook up at Sunset - otherwise we'll see you
at home.
Looking forward to one last set of handshakes before we make for the border!

Ah! Bummer all around actually. Would you believe that when we hit the road we decided to head to the beach that was 2 blocks away, walk the dog and
enjoy our morning coffee.
Driftwood Shores.
Man! We were THAT close all along!
Happy to report that Arkay escorted us to Sunset and we were greeting by another PKF posse! So nice to see you guys again.
Now......how do I explain heaven? Well, it looks an awful lot like Sunset. Don't get me wrong - Ivanpah is killer smooth and FAST but Sunset?
Man.....with miles of beach like that and the CLEAN CLEAN CLEANEST wind I've EVER held a kite in.............heaven to the 10th degree. We're coming
back baby! For SURE! (In fact we're still toying with the thought of sticking it out a day longer and flying mom home so I can book it home on the
last day straight through - it's THAT blissful here.)
Arkay - what were you checking the wind with on your phone? Windfinder? If so which location? I need to do some quick thinking about this plan
B.......how's tomorrow look? I could dial that ATB in solid with one full day of play.
Man you all are lucky to be so close to this place........

ikitesurf.com has a good report for manzanita ($), but a free one for sunset that's ok. But you can check noaa and atmos. Ideally you want west wind
(today was fairly N), Monday forecast looks like light east wind East winds are
gustier, but probably still pristine for you Tuesday forcast look reasonable if
you have a good kite for 8-10mph; forecast has a consistent wind all day. You could head to the far south end of the beach and haul back up to the
shipwreck. You might even be able to con Jim into going with you :dunno:
Noaa http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Sunset+Bea...
Monday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Light east southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. West southwest wind around 8 mph.
Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Southwest wind around 8 mph.
Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. West wind between 5 and 8 mph.
Noaa weather graphs: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Sunset+Bea...
Atmos:
http://www.atmos.washington.edu/data/zone_report.KPQR.html
TONIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS AROUND 45. NORTHEAST WIND 5 TO 10 MPH.
MONDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY. SCATTERED SHOWERS IN THE MORNING...THEN SHOWERS LIKELY IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGHS 50 TO 55. LIGHT WIND.
MONDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS 40 TO 45. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 MPH.
TUESDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGHS AROUND 55. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS AROUND 40. WEST WIND 10 MPH.
