Lest we forget... update on Speedy?

Greets, NABX-ers!

Can anyone give me an update on Speedy's condition?

It's so easy to get wrapped in my own issues, and forget that one of us was hurt pretty bad, and also needs our support!

Please post, anyone who knows, the latest and any contact information for cards, email, whatever...

Blake Update

I talked to Blake on Sat for 30 minutes and he is doing really good. He has mastered crutches and i even gave him some helpful hints.I was impressed that he has made so much head-way so fast. With my hip i spent 6 weeks on a walker before i could move to the cruches.I suggested that he start with fighters and then move on to duel line stunt kites. he is looking forward to a full recovery this fall and has great plans. We will see him at dead bird in a buggy along with me.....................aj

That's great AJ! We'll have to stage a Special Olympics race just for the two of you.

Get well soon guys. DBBB is only 145 days away!

Hey guys!!!!! Speedy here....

All I can say is "WOW"!!! All of you are amazing!! I'm so sorry I haven't been in touch and posted on here sooner, sorry, no excuses, I'm just a slacker.

I want to say THANK YOU all for all of your love and support while I was in the hospital. I literally received hundreds of emails from all of you throughout the time I was in that hell hole. No way would I have been able to keep my sanity without all of you guys. (Dooley, the email you sent is hanging on the wall in my office...thinking of framing it)

Recovery has gone much faster than anyone ever expected, thanks to support from my kite family. I am still wearing a back brace any time I'm sitting or standing, but am completely off of crutches and am working out daily at the gym to speed things along.

Some friends of ours out here in Colorado offered to take Jaime and I camping at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska (our kitesurfing Mecca in the middle of the country) next week. They have an awesome camper-trailer with AC!!! Obviously I won't be able to ride myself, but at least I'll be on the beach and helping Jaime hone her kiteboarding skills. Can't wait to be back out on the beach in the wind!

Thanks again everyone, this group is truly amazing and we should all feel privileged to be a part of it! Email me anytime...would love to hear from you guys.

Hello Blake,
Glad to see that you are back, out of the hospital and active again.
WELCOME BACK.
Instead of a back brace................. wear a waist harness........you will feel much better.

SPEEDY!!! The Blakinator is back!!!

Jeez, dude, it's good to hear from you again! So much has been happening that I all-too-easily lost focus on your dilemma, but the email thingy at Swedish Hospital is a nice service, so I used it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't let you save a copy of the message. So now, when you say you've hung it on the wall, I'm thinking, "#@%$#!, Dooley, you know the rules, never put it in writing and always destroy the evidence!"

Oh, well, preserve it if you must... I'm a denial expert! Hope I wasn't too mushy, and no one finds out about our... oh, nevermind. ;o)
