Noob, Buying A New Power/Traction Kite?
Hey Guys,
I have been intersted in getting into power/Traction kiting for about a year now. The only experience I have had so far is with the Ozone Imp
(Don't Laugh)! I used it for about three days and then returned it because I had overestimated how powerful it would be. Like many people on the forum
I need help deciding what kite to get to help me start out.
Weight: 210 Lbs
Height: 6', 01"
I live in New Hampshire and there are few kite shops around, especially for power/traction kiting. I have been looking at the Ozone Samuri which
is avaible near where I live in the 2m and 3m sizes. What are your thoughts on these two kites, I have read some reviews on the web and people seem to
like them. My most important question is about kite size? Because my only experience is with the Imp is the Ozone Samuri 2m or 3m too big for me, or
not big enough? I basically want a kite I can play around with on the ground, buggying, and maybe kiteboarding (Sand), and last but not least just
flying while standing (Maybe a little jumping and sliding) lol.
I'm looking at the 2m Samuri but don't want to buy it and then just wish I got the 3m kite instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated, take it
easy and talk to you soon guys and gals.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to update everyone. I just purchased the Ozone Samuri 3m kite with handles! I cannot wait to give it a try. I have tomorrow off from
work so I am gonna try to find some wind. If you have any experience with 3m kites please feel free to describe your fun! Thanks everyone!

Roger,
I hope you don't get hurt.
You've confused me.
Returned the Imp because it was too powerful?
So you bought a bigger kite?
It's not the Imp that moved you, it was the wind.
How can you build skills if three days makes you quit?
Why do you think anybody would laugh at you for flying an Imp?
You had one of the better learning kites and didn't understand what it was teaching you. That's not funny, that's too bad.
Many are looking for the kite that works.
That's like a carpenter looking for the hammer that works.
Watch your winds.
Medium winds as you learn what you're doing.
But I'm guessing you have to experience things to learn.
Not many listen and learn.
Come back with your thoughts and experiences.
Safen Up! Buggy On!

Hey coreykite,
First of all thank you for posting, it was nice to get a reply. I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back here to post. I think my original
post was a bit confusing, what I meant to say was "I returned the Imp because it was less powerfull than I expected", not too powerfull! This was
especially true because after many hours of practicing I was much more comfortable with the kite. I wanted to play it safe because I had no experience
at the time with power kites. Despite all that it was tons of fun.
During the last month or so I have been trying to do as much research as possible on power kiting, specifically on what kite to get. Given my money
situation I can only afford one kite at the moment and wanted to get a kite I not only enjoy, can handle, but also one I could grow into as my skill
level increased. From the articles and people I have spoken to a three meter kite is not a bad place to start. As long as I start safe in light winds
and work my way up as I become more comfotable.
Now after being able to really spend some time flying it I am glad I got the 3m Samuri. I have gone out on two different occations so far, the first
day had winds of about 3-7mph and the second was a little lighter with <7. On the first day it was perfect. It took me about 20 minutes to set it
all up (I only have the control bar now but purchased the Ozone Pro Handles). I was a little hesitant to pull the bar back at first not knowing what
to expect, I thought for a moment I might get pulled right off the ground but once I got it up in the air it was great! I had to mess around with the
brake lines so it wouldn't fly so high, it kept wanting to climb. Once I get it straightened out it was great!
Long story short I loved it, I can't wait until Sunday July 10th (My next day off) to go out again. I only hope there will be some wind, if I am lucky
it will be blowing around 7-12mph but I'll take what I get. Well take it easy man, thanks again for your help coreykite! Talk to you later
