Iceland Volcano Grounding Shipments?
I just saw on the news that UPS, FedEx and other carriers in Europe are largely grounded due to the fallout from the volcano in Iceland and that it
could go on and get worse.
I have a big shipment scheduled to leave from Peter Lynn In the Netherlands this week. I will check in the AM but it it does not look good. In fact
the shipment was waiting on Chargers coming inbound to them and I wonder if that is nixed.
Flexifoil has product stocked in the US now, but there are certain items that have to come from the UK that I am counting on ordering.
My point is that all should take notice that most dealers will likely have trouble getting product inbound from Europe.
More to follow I'm sure...

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. I saw a map of the 'cloud' and both the mentioned areas are under the cloud.
I'd rather wait on a kite than risk someone flying if it really isn't safe. Did you ever see what happened to the flight a few years ago that flew
through a cloud of ash. A 747 full of people had all 4 engines stop. It fell from 30,000 + feet to around 20,000 feet like a rock before the pilot
managed to get a couple of them going. YIKES!

Yeah, just got off the blower with Marijn (-mj-) and the inbound Chargers are indeed delayed due to shipping delays caused by the volcano. We do not
yet know about outbound shipping from northern Europe but last I heard it was stopped. The Brits are even dispatching the Royal Navy to bring
travelers home via ship. I also spoke with Flexi and they are sending stuff out via Royal Mail but say to expect delays as it may go by boat.

...and this is the little volcano. If the big one 7 miles next door blows, and it's a distinct possibility, then it gets worse.
We will know more about shipments later this week.
Sorry, did not see a category "When the volcano blows...."

I like that better than "When all Hell breaks loose"
Seems all of us are going to be waiting for our ship to come in.

To tell the truth we are really enjoying the silence here. I work at the end of the runways from Frankfurt Airport. It has never been so quiet. It is
amazing what a Valcano can do.
There is so much freight that cannot be moved,
so much mail that cannot be delivered,
so many fruits and Vegie's that are going to have to be thrown away because they cannot be delivered.
Hotels are full,
need a rental car? good luck!!
Trains are full,
the Autobahn is full,
all because of a little valcano.

i work at YVR, and its been quiet so its good coming back from NABX
however its true UPS / FEDEX / DHL are all grounded right now. Same with all europe bound passenger flights. yesterday, some of the airlines wanted to
fly but got cancelled 1 hour asking passengers to return to the airport.
its a bad situation right now, with passengers on day #3 or #4 on visa who cant leave the airport. you thought a layover was bad, how about living
there.
today, some of the german flights want to fly, but its not sure as of 0900am. i have a bet at work right now its not going.
the risk is still there, the small volcano blew, but actually there is another larger one right next to it that could blow too. 2012 here we come.
talking with UPS, they want to use ship/sea right now, and than move to trucks. what would take a week will now be like a month. at least its better
than 3 months from china.
so, like i said to daskirtz. he with the most STOCK wins right now. call me.

but i still have more
**update** some flights to europe from YVR will be leaving today. i assume UPS and FEDEX will follow later today after the guinea pigs go first.
