I wake up this morning, sit my rear down in front of the computer and hit NOAA to check the wind. 20 gusting 25

FINALLY!!!! Decent wind for the Viper! Drive to one of the local school to see if its soccer player free and to my amazement, it is! WOOT! Grab the gear, set up, take a moment to get a feel for the wind, and I'm off. got some awesome runs in (even upwind ) By tis point, im feeling relaxed. Mistake #1....before I know it I get hit with a gust while I have the kite deep in the power :wee::wee::wee: got pulled over the side. this happened a couple times today. No biggie, all part and partial to the whole buggy gig. I seemed to spend more time fixing bow ties, untangling lines, resetting, etc but I really dont care. The runs I got between those times made it all worth it!! Did a few power slides (completely unintentionally), some good jibes, and again....I even got upwind! (very proud of that considering this is only my 2nd decent wind session in the bug) after it was all said and done, I looked at my gps to see what the max speed reached was and my jaw about hit the floor....

24.7! I know I'm not setting any records here, and compared to many it's not that fast but hey, it seemed SUPER fast to me :singing::singing::singing:

Only complaint about today was field size....WTB more space to buggy!

OBE's are the highlight of the buggy experience. I've had several 'Exit to the rear please' experiences trying to reposition the kite and it takes off to the rear. I also had one super side slide where the tires grabbed and i went flipping over and over. I heard 3 hits to the helmet and I think I landed on the wheel somewhere as I had sore ribs for 3 weeks and no bruise at all.

No bumps or bruises on mine luckily. Had the helmet on, nothing hit. Just a little too much side action on mine. Is it bad that even the OBEs were fun???:wee::wee::wee:

Ahhhh, waiting on some OBE's myself. Had one but wasn't really moving.

To be honest, I'm a little worried about JIBE OBE's. Not knowing much about the bug I'm sure to bite the beach. Maybe I'll go underpowered and get you guys to help a little.

I've seen little kids do well in bugs. Then so can I.

Way to go Mougl! 24 is pretty fast on grass. I've only been clocked at 25 or so on grass. I might've gotten faster this weekend but I wasn't in my buggy and didn't have a gps. You'll get better with the kites and the buggy as you ride more. You will be able to sense that things are about to go wrong and fix it before you hit "eject".

HR, you will be fine at Jekyll. Just don't go out overpowered until you gain alot of confidence. Everyone there will be thrilled to have another with the buggy bug and will offer you as much advice as you are ready to digest. That hard sand rolls easily and you can slide sideways mostly if you get the kite in the wrong position. You will learn much that first day grasshopper!:Ange09::bigok:

The hardest part probably will be trying to get the grin off your face!

Two things will get you...

Letting the kite get behind you.

Misreading the sand. The drier and more gray the sand, the easier to break loose for a speed-scrubbing slide. The first of these usually happens by accident then you see how easy and effective it is. I the more moist and muddy looking the sand, (closer to the surf line) the stickier it is and the more likely you will get up on two wheels when trying a power slide and roll-over for a spectacular OBE.

Remember everybody MUST WEAR A HELMET.

Read sand? I'll have to keep that in mind. Guess it would catch you off guard and flip you on your head.
