Pulse = low aspect : more beginner/intermediate/wave, easy relaunch

Psycho =mid aspect : better upwind, better hangtime, harder relaunch

Speeds = high aspect: high performance for advanced riders, very frustrating for a first flysurfer, requires lots more experience, not recommended at this point.

if it is 15m or above, get it in Deluxe or SA material. for lighter wind the lighter fabric really makes a difference.

depends on your budged. get a used FS to save on cost, but nothing older than psycho3 or pulse1. older models do not have all the tuning options or safety systems built into them and have about half of the depower of the 08 and above models.

Pulse or Pulse 2 would be my recomendation..............................just when I think my 10m Pulse has shown its got she produces something else..................my Pulse is the most stable and powerful 10m on the beach no question along with the best depower................agree Speeds/S2 are not good to learn on and can and will get away from you in a hurry..........................

I am still very happy with my Pulse and have fond momories of my Psycho III. My Psycho II was well built but not near as well behaved.

I think this was the year Flysurfer got it all together and from what I understand they have only gotten better ! The original Speed benefits from a 1.5 mod. and FDS.

Interesting, My first and only was a S1.5 17m. Except that mine turns really slow(I know, I still need to to a mixer test) it has a crazy amount of power. I must be missing out if it is frustrating, everything inland can be frustrating. It would be interesting to see what the new ones fly like.

get the pulse... i tried to learn on a speed, it was a mistake... i dont like the characteristics of my large psycho 3... the pulse is a great kite, fast handling, super easy relaunch, good depower, etc

It doesn't really, since it's an open cell depower, instead of a closed cell. It is, however, high performance, high aspect ratio.

I doubt it, the closest kite that I know of for comparison purposes is the Ozone Manta M3. And that's a high end, high aspect ratio. Looking at the descriptions from powerzone, I would expect it to be between the Psycho and Speed, even if not quite up to the speed .

Mark, you can probably try both the Outlaw (ragden's) and the Manta M3 (mine) at WW if you like.

actually, the measurements for the pulse and the outlaw are identical...there was a lot of discussion of this when the outlaw was released...

but since in the initial post it mentions that the kite will be used for water purposes, it should be left out of the equation...

Really? Hmm, didn't think it appeared to have that much difference aspect ratio-wise between ragden's Speed and ragden's Outlaws.

pulse 2 specs.... http://www.flysurfer.com/Content/366/?mnid=1720

outlaw specs... http://www.flysurfer.com/Product/?op=showData&glid=42&am...

... the only differences i could find were: weight... and the lei equivalent size of the 14m pulse2 as opposed to the 14m outlaw... .5m difference

they did make a change in A/R from pulse to pulse 2, though

... never flown a pulse2... loved my pulse, though...

If you have kite flying experience, I would recommend going for the speed3 kites. They are amazing. However, if its your first depower kite, I would agree that the pulse would probably better suit you.

I notice that you have some Peter Lynn kites already (Synergy's). Flysurfers fly a bit differently than the PL twinskin kites. I would HIGHLY recommend you try before you buy. I've got a buddy who has a full Psycho quiver (3s and 4s), and he really does not like the way the PL twinskins fly in comparison. It would really be a shame to drop the cash on a Flysurfer only to find out you just dont like it...

Did you end up getting a Flysurfer?

If you did, what are you impressions of it?

I love the fsers.....The pulses turn relatively fast and relaunch off the water easy... My big speed is a bit of a pig, but its not meant to be thrown around... Dive it, park it and hang on......
