So took the Blade out today
What a kite! This really is the adrenalin injection I needed since I had control of the 4m flow down, and the sabre just wasn't performing (in
retrospect I think we had it out in too low winds).
Anyway, 10 - 20 mph winds massive amounts of fun. Arms got fatigued very fast so we put it onto the ozone turbo bar (also new :tumble: ) and hooked
in. Was awesome! scudding all over the place, doing some little jumps (had it on the lowest AOA setting) and then my mate gets whisked off into the
air! classic! typical that I stopped filming at that point though... oh well
Anyway its reinvigorated my love for the sport which can only be good news! :wee:

haha, well it was gusting up to 20... not steady 20. Very good fun! A couple of oh #@%$#! moments but very soft sand meant nice soft landings and
with my helmet at least my head will be safe if I plummet from 50 feet. haha!

Hi, I'm new to this so go easy. I converted my 5m fixed bridle to a control bar and I noticed its not turning very well. The brake line are slack and
seems like they almost have no purpose. Is the ozone turbo bar a good bar. Will this bar actually use the brake lines. http://www.powerkiteshop.com/ozone_turbo_control_bar.htm . I had it out in 15-20 mph my 3rd time out and wow. That was alot of fun. Got about 4
feet. (195lbs). Thanks for your help.

Most of the FB kites don't turn as well on bars as they do on handles. The Ozone Turbo bar is supposed to be a good bar for FB kites. It activates the
brakes by pulling in and out on the bar.

I've only used it on the blade so far, which isnt its best match I dont think (I think Ii read somewhere that the blade is meant to fly without any
brake input? maybe i'm making that up... ) but I wanted to hook into it.
When I use it on the flow I will let you know, the blade did fly well but certainly more sluggish than handles.

Thanks, yeah I've noticed I have to grip the bar at the handles almost where the line is to turn hard.

the 8.5 is a big enough kite so you'll have trouble turning it fast. And the blades turn quickest on the low AoA setting.
consider tightening up on the crossover -- this assists turning on the powers with handles, likely won't help on the bar.
the ozone turbo bar gets great reviews on smaller kites, don't know if anybody else is using it on the big kites.
you can use a strop with handles if you want to hook in.
hope that helps...

angle of attack. The blade iv's have ground-adjustable bridles.
do a search for "AoA" or "Angle of Attack" on here (upper left corner, just below the buggy) and you'll find lots of info and links.

Hey furbowski? How are your 12m kites? Can you get some serious air with them? And are they ram air? Thanks.

well Dave80 I'm kinda stuck on a static jump plateau, been working my butt off (no beach time) for the past few months. the 12m depowers (the two
arcs) have gotten very little airtime. They're closed-cell, need to inflate on the ground, then top up in the air.
the 12m ace, an open-cell ram air, is OK, but at my weight (150#) I can't yet fly it in enough wind to get quick turns out of it. Also I only have
about ten hours on it so far.
The big 12 ace gives me a kinda lifty / semi-loft kind of experience, more like long floats, but not so much height and pop. I get that with the 6.5
and the 8. But to be honest these days I don't go for absolute height, but good control over the jumps. consistent 5-10 feet is a good day, I've had
a couple really good days with consistent 10-15 footers and maybe max 50 feet across the wind and 30 - 40 feet downwind. I don't get that on the 12,
not sure I will. It's not a very well designed kite, not at all optimized for the size. Also the smaller kites in bigger winds give me way more pop.
I'm pretty careful tho, after several hundred hours jumping on the beach I'm still injury-free. Others may take more risks and get more air.
Also the more I push the limits jumping on the fixed bridles the pickier I get about the winds... It's gotta be super sweet before I try to go a bit
larger than I've done before.
hope that helps, D80.

static = no wheels / not on the water / just running about under your kite with a grin on your face!
can't see the video, I'm behind the great firewall of china at the moment.
