Live Music

Haven't had a chance to watch live music in quite a while... it used to be something I could do several times a week (a friend owned a local venue... and I also hit a fair number of others as time and travel permitted). This past weekend I got a chance to attend a house concert. It's kind of a strange animal where artists show up at someone's house. In this particular case, the home definitely supported it, there was a large room that could probably accomodate 30-40 people and there was a full recording studio downstairs (people have interesting and expensive hobbies).

It was a very laid back and enjoyable evening, and hopefully there won't be quite as long an interlude between seeing another live gig.

If you haven't had a chance to hear music in a small venue it's highly recommended.

ATB,
Sam

It is a cool scene for sure. A good long time friend of mine gathers a few times a month with his friends and they jam. No writen music just a follow me jam session. Some times it gets very wierd and loud, but often it is a good layed back time.
Oh and they do this in the basement of his HotRod shop. No niebors to complain!

I love live music in small venues, whether it's a jazz band at a bar, a cover band, small artist at a small venue, or a group of musicians chilling out.

My dad plays bluegrass with some friends of his every saturday night, and they've been doing it for over 30 years, a couple of the older guys have allegedly NEVER missed a saturday night...anyway, theres usually 6-7 people playing and 10-15 hanging out and enjoying themselves. These guys have been playing together for so long that their music is super tight, it's really a fun get together.

Live music is the great equalizer!
