I just checked the status of my Twister II 7.7m and finally received some news beyond the fact that the shipment has been received at the "postal facility." Whilst sitting in class, it caused me to become overjoyed and let out a grin that if anyone saw must have made them realize that I am, at the moment, not typing notes

The exact wording, for those who may care, is as follows: "International shipment has arrived in the destination country"

All wordiness aside, I am super excited to get this beast so I can set it up and get some quality time in with my new friend with some very uplifting benefits. Two puns in a single phrase, oh how thinking about kites tickles my sense of humor.:wee::tumble::roll:

Be careful with that beast! I have the 5.6 and its got a lot of power/lift....have FUN!

thats a huge step up from a 2m crossfire. be careful! I bet I see a 4.1m or 5.6m twister II in your near future

I totally agree, get her out in light stuff first... Great kite though!!!

dont take this kite lightly, and you should be ok--keep in mind what the others said, as i have flown the 5m version of this kite and it can and will lift you easily--often much more than you had planned........

I totally respect the power this kite can and will have. I'm not looking to get hurt from acting stupid. I'll take my time and be picky about the winds. I'm thinking a good starting wind will be around 5mph but I could be wrong. I don't wear my helmet when I'm static kiting with the 2.4 but I will be with this one. I will be buying a 5m or so kite as my next kite but I couldn't pass up the deal on this kite. Thanks for the advice. I've prepared myself for the oh so disappointing pack up when the wind will inevitably be too high at some point.

Am I right that 5mph or so will be a good starting wind?

5 Mph is good for a first time, watch out for gusts though and enjoy.

The 7.7 is officially at the post office and I can pick it up at 830 tomorrow morning! Whoo! I'm bummed I had to be at work when the mailman came by because that means I have to wait to set it up, but it is what it is. I was tempted to drive down to the post office and see if they'd let me pick it up tonight but I think I already know the answer haha. I'm super excited to get this beast set up. If I were to pick it up today I'd take it to a spot I know in the area with fairly low winds just so I could really set up the kite and get acquainted with it properly.

Well, I think that posting this has given me enough drive to go check the post office!

EDIT: Bummer, they close at 5:30 and it's already 5:45. Maybe if I drive fast enough I can go back in time *crosses fingers wishfully*

I got my first glimpse of the wonderful 7.7 today! I was excited and saw that there was wind so I headed home from the post office to put on some mud clothes. But then, all of a sudden, a thought comes to me: is the wind too strong? I hopped onto my yahoo weather widget which generally is a good enough indication of wind and read the disappointing wind speed. 18mph. There is no way I am taking this beast out today. I could take the crossfire 2.4 out but as I come back down to earth I realize I should probably get a jump start on studying for my economics test.

Oh well, I'll get myself out there with the 7.7 another day. No sense dying on a day like today when an ideal day is most likely just around the corner. I will most likely be heading out in the afternoon/early evening tomorrow or fairly early Saturday morning to get a taste of the power that this kite has to offer. Just looking at this kite gives me the tingles :bouncy:

Good call bro! 18 is a lot for even the 5.6! For the 7.7 I wouldn't even think about it over 5-7 for the first flightS. Glad to see sense kicking in when the call of a new kite is so tempting!

Yea, 18mph is about a 3m wind inland IMO. Low wind days are in front of you tho and you'll be scudding all over the place before long.

Even in light winds, this thing can pull like a truck, LoL.

It will not hesitate to pick you up either

Good move waiting. I think this was my kite and there is no way I would / could fly it in 18mph.
Great kite but I found that being light and it being lifty I had trouble holding my ground with it pretty early.
Wait for that 5mph day and you will have the time of your life. If you get 18mph wind a lot you need to start saving for a 5.6! :bouncy:

I am stuck between saying goodbye to this kite and hello to the 15m Speed 3 D as my low wind engine. Sad but very excited! :Ange09:

I got the red. Nice looking kite. I ended up heading out a few hours later that after the wind died down and got a good solid hour in. This kite has so much more power. It's amazing. The wind was about 5 or 6 gusting to 8 (or so windfinder said), so pretty calm. I definitely didn't push myself much. I got a little bit of just stationary flying in before trying to maneuver the kite more to get some good power. I started scudding around and got in a couple small jumps, but nothing spectacular.

I had a blast with this kite though. I can't wait until I get another day off to go fly. I will be taking all three of my kites to the beach this weekend and will hopefully be able to fly the crossfire and/or the twister depending on the wind.

I also think I found someone else who I can go kiting with. I started talking about kiting with a coworker and found out that he has been interested in kiting for a while but that he hasn't gone out. I'm thinking about meeting up with him and letting him fly the Snapshot and then the Crossfire if he isn't too much of a spaz
