Giving up kiting ...

... well, sort of. :P

I got a phone call from Travel network today asking if they could license some of the videos they have watched. I didnt expect that my videos got much review but than again its the internet.
After all these years of kiting and being infront of the camera. Being featured on TLC, OLN, Discovery, Local news, etc etc, Im going to take a back seat to the action. I really did enjoy all the fliming I did at NABX 2010, and going through all the raw footage and editing stuff together from everyone. I don't plan to make a career from this or profit, but wanna share our (Canada / USA) kiting scene to the world.

Im still going to continue my racing career but when its kickin wind Ill be behind the lense capturing action. I came to this conculsion after this weekend, when i had a huge OBE. ask TDMC96 how far and high I flew and rolled around. The park we use is just too small for high speed driving. I noticed that I dont bounce back like I once did, like injury on SUN, okay to go by MON. now four days later, im still in pain. age is catching up to me now. Ill save my riding for the different events around the world instead.

I look forward to filming all of you at a near event. If you see some little asian guy coming up to asking to hang onto your rear axle or throwing a backpack with a swingbar mount on or asking you to jump over me, please dont feel awkard.

With some downtime I can also concentrate on some unfinished projects as well for my sponsors, the shop, etc etc.

On the plus side Dino now has some time to catch up to me, I hope. LOL. yah right, he'll still be eating my dust at NABX 2011.

Thank you to all the crew at RSKB, the teamriders and all the folks on the various forums, especially PKF. I couldnt have gotten this far without you all.

my last view of camera will be my little segment on Discovery's Daily Planet. I have no clue when it will air as I still need to meet with the production team for some summer time filming. Its all about me and World Cup, so its going to be short intro until I get to Belgium.

you guys will not miss any action from World Cup as I will have a mounted a Go Pro HD to my helmet (maybe a bit of drag but you need to see the competition), and also there will be my DSLR mounted on the rear axle with a swing bar to capture the view infront, but there might not be much to see but open beach space as Ill be in the Number #1 spot. hehehe, sorry day dreaming at work.

Wow, I hope you still get to ride some more. But the creative end is fun too (I'm the guy hanging around with the 3D camera).

In the meanwhile, look into some of the (many) muscle, joint, exertion, inflammation, injury recovery supplements out there (ZMA, MSM, hGH enhancers, Cissus, Ashwagandha, Curamin, etc.) Some of them really seem to help my aging carcass in general, (and also specifically when I was in rehab after I broke my arm after a car accident).

Well dude hope you bounce back soon. There needs to be an experienced guy behind the lens, I'm sure that this will only open up many doors for you. Besides you still can kite when you feel like it. Now you get to enjoy getting the best view of guys pulling off cool moves and equally as much catching the great fails and bails that aren't always on video. Good Luck Man!!!!

I go the same phone call from the Travel Channel but I have nothing for them like you have.

Strictly for educational purposes and not for entertainment (well, maybe a little), I'd like to know how you OBE'd so badly in the Apex. In my new Ivanpah bug, when hitting close to 40, I am still looking for the beer cooler and the the TV remote, when not keeping an eye out for toddlers on the beach. I don't seem to have to worry about flipping it in any power slide. My only OBE so far was from getting yanked out the front when I accidentally kite looped the Neo 11 in a turn when watching some meandering pedestrians. I got dragged on my arse for about 50' with no other consequence, so I suppose it could have been worse...

I look forward to more vids and pics, but still hope you get back on the horse...

Actually....Rip got yarded twice that weekend and I got pull once which was at the same time as him.
We were riding along and an unusually strong gust came up and pulled us both out at the same time.
Must of looked hillarious from someone watching from the sidelines.
I was flying a 5.4 Vapor and rip was on the 6.5
His second OBE was a good one which I wish I had on film....I had just come over the top of a hill and saw him doing a superman....it was hillarious....but the gust that hit him was now on me but I managed to keep it in control...lol
All in all, it was a good time as I was pushing his flying limits and he was pushing mine.....makes one a better flyer.

in normal conditions I wouldnt be worried but when you see TDMC96's video youll see how small and bumpy the park is, so when i was driving at 38km, yes thats KM/H its makes for a rough ride and I hit something than tried a failed Emergency Stop and was hit by a milli-second gust.
i guess its more my fault with the wrong setup, the apexx was still on smoothie's from nabx on moist grass / soft sand patches. For a little asian guy, I normally ride 1 to 1.5m sizes bigger than the pink skirts around here.

today, i didnt once feel like I wanted to be in the buggy, probably because of the new kite but I have to agree with RonH on his comment 110%. I go through these dry spells, and after watching Wash Event, WW, Romo, Euro videos ... it just sux to be riding where we are. see you at an event sooner than later.
