I'm arc'ing in the rain...

Of course sung to the tune of singing in the rain :wee:

So I was wondering if ayone has flown an arc, and launched an arc in the rain?

I'm thinking of taking the v19 outin the morning, when it will likely be 10mph & rainy. Wondering if 1) it will prefill or if the rain will push it out some and 2) if the water weight on the massive ammount of fabric will work for the light wind conditions. I assume if it's 20mph it's not gonna br a problem :)

I've done it a couple of times. It was in higher winds, just make sure you can get traction on the ground lol. Air doesn't get pushed out unless it's raining hard.

We don't have any space to dry out any of my foils, let alone an arc :(
Have fun!

Would be nice to know. You da man to find out. LOL

I packed up yesterday (V 19) just as the rain hit. But the kite was getting thrown left to right in flight. Storm was moving in and the gust was in circles.

I did make one discovery. When it lulls, and you know the gust is coming with big beast falling low in the window. Grab the power lines and jerk it right into the gust. Well it worked for me yesterday. Thought I was going for a ride but it let the wind blow under.

Might not be the right thing but I'm learning.

Yea man, Take it out and get back with the results. Maybe some vid?
I've always wondered how that would be.

I've flown them in the rain before but they get heavier and a bit sluggish depending on the kite size and wind. The other thing would be the material taking on moisture and then it would stretch more than it would dry so you would likely be changing the kites profile a little if you did it on a regular basis and high winds.
They do get wet if you crash kiteboarding but usually they aren't in long enough to saturate the material and dry off quickly.
I fly my LEIs in rain but just don't like packing up wet gear in the rain.

numerous sessions in the rain. seems to be in the fall when there's not so much lightening.

i've had all day sessions in the rain. think there are several other older threads on this topic.

the trick with the rain (gotta have the wind!) launch has to be quick before its soaked and the zips get sanded. don't work the zips!

ding, ding, ding!

The rain stopped, but the wind also died even more. It was 5-9, the kite really didn't want to fly. I could just get it in the air and pulling a little when it was more twards 9, but I had to pul lthe center way in and steer by the rings when I wanted to turn :) the v19 is a lot of fabric, but I was hoping it could get it to launch in under 10... works great in under 10 if your are already moving...

OUCH ! You promised not to Syn' shower and tell!

It seemed a lot smarter for us to work on " keeping it up " until the end of the showers that day than to put it to bed and get it all sandy !

I've actually had a few wet arc moments lately that made me shake my head. Wet sandy arc = bad. Dry clean arc = good.

My 19 got wet and would not take flight. It was a very low wind but would fly before the dew. Now days, its about to melt or get hit by lightning around here.
