Why O lord ...? Need to rant

Why, when PUBLIC park means I have as much right to use the park for recreation as any one else there within the boundaries of good manners and common sense, do you think it excludes everyone except you?

Why, when there is only you and me in the park, do you have to walk right in front of me?

Why, when I walk miles down the beach away from everyone else, do you feel the need to come and stand right where I'm trying to fly?

Why, when I explain it simply and clearly, do you not #@%$#!ing listen when I tell you "Don't stand there"?

Why, when you get a shock from something unusual, do you think you can go and moan about it and get it banned while your baseballs and soccer balls bounce off my car and your dog tries to savage people sitting on the grass and your frisbee is bouncing off the back of my head and your kids on bikes are crashing into my shins and you think that's no problem?

... apparently, all wind sports (excluding single line kites strangely enough ie. Japanese kites) have been banned at my fav park in Hamamatsu cos quote "someone dropped a kite near someone" ...

#@%$#!ing moaning whinging self-centered sissy #@%$#!es

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

I'm not even going into the people that felt a need to DRIVE their Mercedes Benz up to my kites and banners to see them in the field today. I don't know how they missed the line sets.

People are curious by instinct but ignorant when it comes to their own safety.

its always best to be friendly and yield--we are in the minority it seems, with people wanting to ban buggying etc.,so even if you are right and the other person is a tard--its best to just grin and bear it and live to fly another day........

Man thats gota suck.

I can't find parks big enough to get banned from. But if I did and really liked the place it would be terrible to lose it.

I've been stuck on the same dam little hill forever.:lol:

This is the exact reason my house will be on the market asap. As Hardrock stated, it's hard enough to find a place to fly to begin with let alone finally finding one and finding out wind sports are banned because of some whining.

Time to pick a kite friendly place on the map and go...

Hey you might be on to something mougl.

Start calling real estate agency's and request to see areas that are kite friendly.

We could have real estate agency's all over talking about how they lost a sale due to kite bans.

I dream of going back in time and cutting a swath through the landscape with my samurai sword and laying claim to a large tract of the coast line and putting up a great #@%$#!off big fence along it  "KITES ONLY"

newtokiting - this is a rant/moan/complain thread ... in other threads I'll be consolatory and accommodating, but in here - #@%$#! them all!

This dude on Sunday, after he asked about the kite and I explained a little; it went like this.
Strange English cos it's a direct translation of my poor Japanese.

Me - "Soon I will send up my kite. Please don't stand there."
Putz-san - "Oh you want me to hold it." and he moves to grab the downwind tip.
Me - "No please do not touch it."
Putz-san - "Oh really" and he goes back to standing in the front of the LE.
Me - "Soon I will send up my kite. Please don't stand there. The kite will go that way. It is dangerous, that place."
Putz-san - "Oh you want me to hold it." and he moves to grab the downwind tip.
Me - "Do NOT touch it."
Putz-san - "Oh really." and he goes back to standing in the front of the LE.
... you see a pattern here?
Me - "Ok I'm going to put up the kite. Please take care." and I motion for him to move away.
Putz-san - "Oh you want me to hold it." and he moves to grab the downwind tip.
Me - "(FFS YOU #@%$#!ING MORON - English) No. Do not touch. Go over there."
Putz-san - "What, over there?"
Me - "Yes. The kite will go that way. Stand there is dangerous. Please go over there"
Putz-san "Oh." stomps off in a bewildered manner.

You can see that smack-tard just downwind in the launch vid on my blog.
I'm all for nice people put FFS ... leave me alone. I don't disturb you when you're enjoying your hobby and stand in front of your lens when you're trying to take phots ...

Lynx69 and I thought about going to the parks board people with single line spiderman kites and asking them why we can't fly our kites in te public park lol. Is there rocketry or remote contol planes or helicopters there? That's what we confronted our local park ranger with so he would let us fly again there. Sorry Kami :( sorry for your frustration

Little off topic. But when we started flying we went to a really nice Baseball Park down the road. This place is kept looking fine with so many fenced in fields, pretty grass, it looks like some professional top of the line parks.

Well we would just pick a field and walk in and fly. I started noticing the park trucks stopping and hanging around a good bit. People at the large building with a gym where all the registration takes place would come out and look or stare you might say.

So one day I found some information to read. You must reserve the field you want to be on in advance. Even if its just practicing with your kid or to have a game.

Well they lets us fly but I'm sure they didn't like it. Didn't feel wanted there anyway so we gave it up. Now we've got beyond the P3., it wouldn't be a good place anyway.

Just saying, rules everywhere ya go.

Putz ... pillock, plonker, butthead, braindead ... obliviot.
San ... Mr.
So I'm Kevin-san.

Yeah there are #@%$#!ing rules everywhere here too - the rule is basically "If it's not on the OK list, it's not OK" and the OK list is very very short. You gotta book and pay for the use of the public places that your tax dollars have already paid for :dunno:

I can understand having rules for the genuine #@%$#!s out there but seriously - when there is nobody else in the park, I'm taking pains not to rip the grass up and I can obviously control the kite - why bother throwing your park warden weight around?

So, like all good Japanese citizens, I just wait till the authorities leave then do what the hell I like. And at the park the other day, there were staff members there - plenty of them around - but they said nothing. Like all ballsy Japanese citizens, if you ignore the authorities and do it anyway, you get away with it.

Yes we have RC planes, helicopters and cars etc and I can see why those should be limited - but #@%$#! me they got their own little club fields!

Get this ...

Was down at THE ONLY KITE BEACH IN THE STATE a few weeks back. It's maybe 500m long and about 50m deep to the trees but soft loamy sand so you can board there. We launch and fly when it's northerlies though.
Playing with the Ace when these two guys come down onto the beach and start running up and down. Fine, I thought, they're all the way down the other end no problems.
Then the #@%$#!heads come and set up a DIY sprinting track - right bloody behind me. Then they wander around right under my lines. I'm like "Dangerous yo" and they're like "Oh sorry (#@%$#! you)".
FFS you can run ANYWHERE along the lake front if you want to enjoy the scenery, ANYWHERE in the #@%$#!ing state but you gotta come to this beach, the ONLY beach we can fly kites and in the whole beach you gotta come stand around right next to me ... #@%$#!s.

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Even so, you guys all seem to keep your cool and not get out of control at that moment.

Here is a short clip of our Bro Mougl testing out the V19m in light wind.

You'll see a truck on the beach, driving safe and slow. However there was one spot he had to go through that scared the crap out of me.

Mougl was caught a little off guard but didn't panic or get upset. But he was lost by the camera man or we may have been able to read his lips.

Sometimes we need a little Patience so I added a bit of G&R.
Also left the clip long for Mougl's viewing pleasure.

 Yeah, those PL twinskins look great in flight, all of them IMHO. Ya gotta hate it when other people unknowingly or unintentionally put themselves or you in danger, but some seem to know just what they are doing, yet do it anyway. Grrr... @br, then kami would have to get a buggy, shipping no good:no:. But if he walked down a few back alleys in Shiga, looking for a guy welding in his back yard, with photo's of an extreme apexx, I figure the guy would build him two for the price of shipping alone! Then lookout mr. putz-san! Think of the speed and terror he'd provide to the moron's who insist in getting in the way!:wee:

Kami I have felt your pain. A couple weekends ago at a kite fest. We were flying power kites. I had a 4m and the kid had a 2m. We decided to take a break and get a drink. As I walked away I looked back just in time to see some guy headed right for the kite. I yelled hey don't touch that it can kill you as I started to run to him. He looked at me and grabbed the leading edge and tossed it into the air. It went up past his face and due to the brakes being on full it came right back down and damned near clobbered him. I was still running and saying get away from it as he did this. (hoping in my evil side it would hit him)
I asked him why he did it and his comment was " I have flown kites for way longer than you and this one is screwed up. It should have gone right up" I asked if he would like me to show him how it is flown. And he said "I already know how to fly a kite"
So in the end it is proven once again. People are stupid and know everything. And we know nothing.

I probably would then have offered him the handles, at his own risk, of course...I never can understand how someone can feel justified in handling other peoples stuff, mostly under the guise of 'helping out'. I've had 12 yr olds that listen better than adults when it comes to flying kites.

best i've done

someone from a group ask if they can help

i say YES! all of you can !

Great what can we do? the smartest of them all asked.

i pointed to a small piece of driftwood about 30 yds away. "do you see that small piece of drift wood over there ? " got the nods. " if everyone could go over there and stand right beside it things would be prefect"

they comply

i launch

and jet ! distance is the best you can do
