Ivanpah buggy in the stable

I'm about to be the proud father of an Ivanpah Windspeed Pro buggy. It could be finished tomorrow but probably on Friday so I will have it middle to end of next week. I've been without for several weeks now, and its starting to wear on me.

I got it in stainless and this is the first out of the shop with a matte/brushed finish. I'll put barrows on it for now and save my pennies for a set of bigfoots for those soft sand opportunities and the rough ride on the NABX out n back challenge next year. The barrows are the tire of choice at the sodfarm.

Pics and video to follow to show what this finish looks like since this is the first one.

Congrats BB! The ivanpah is a nice bug for sure. Angus let me have a go on his at JIBE and his description of it to me was spot on....a lazy boy on rails :) ill be interested to hear you're impression of it when it comes to speed potential. Reason I say that is, once I'm able to move to an area with a bit more wind (and room) I'm going to be in the market for a faster bug :wee:

Dino, it will only save me a few days and I'm already booked locally on Saturday, so I'll just be here watching for the big truck parked outside.

My mistake. Some of the pics I took of one had some Speedmaster tires on it and that's what I'm remembering. :duh:

Todd, nice choice on the desert colors! I figured all along that I would get a powder coated model and really fretted about picking the ultimate color. The stainless takes away that choice (and worry).

Mougl, comparisons with Dino's new MG will be continual. The design approach is different on each buggy so the pluses and minuses will come out after we race each other and trade buggies and do it again. In the end, having different buggies will be a source of chiding among the guys. Gotta love it.

Bladerunner, the board never appealed to me because of the shifty and low inland winds I typically had to deal with in GA. I like the sliding and turning and terminal speed that is a rush in the buggy. When one of the boys takes my buggy away, I grab a board and putter back and forth but those times happen so infrequently, that I never built any skills with it. The boys both have GI boards now and they are sturdy enough to hold me up so I've never ruled out the board its just that the buggy is instant fun and I know the board is going to bring trials and tribulations. I've seen blood running down the shins of guys that are better than I'd ever hope to be, so that doesn't help my board enthusiasm.

You can choose anything for the powder coat color (Kent will let you powder coat a stainless, BTW), but the camo seat and side rail pads are one of a kind. That buggy was going to be my new one, but it would have been way too hard for me to transport.

Not on my initial order but I'll pick one up before or at Nabx '11. My usual ride here doesn't take me far from the car, and we haven't taken advantage of the beaches here yet, so I'll recover my kite budget a little and get the bag. I need 3 kites and a set of bigfoots first.

Good call on the SS Version. I'll wait and see how long it takes for my plain plated hardware to start dissolving in front of my eyes in the GA salt air and moist heat.

Memorial Day weekend the low tide was after 5pm when the beach cleared of toddlers and most folks so we had a clear run to the shipwreck with perfect onshore winds SE 20 mph. I ran with the Flexi Rage 3.5 hooked in with strop, harken pulley block, Wichard QR. So easy in the Ivanpah. GPS batteries died but had to be 40+.

Now I just need a beverage holder and magazine rack...

It's all good!!! The matt finish stainless buggy is coming out pretty good. I will try to get some pictures of it if possible. Hopefully we can have it in the UPS truck by this weekend.

The Camo buggy is a beauty for sure. As for now it is a one of a kind because the camo material is no longer available to build the seats and rails out of. Buggybags barely had enough left to kick out one more seat and rail combo - which unfortunately didn't leave enough to get a matching bag. Unless some more camo material comes available, that will be the only Ivanpah made with that color seat. The powder coating can be done again of course, but the seat color will have to be one of the solid colors that are currently being produced.

As said above, this is the first Matt/Brushed stainless buggy I have built so it has taken a little bit more work to try and get the right finish on the buggy. Not nearly as much work as the mirror polished buggies but it has still been a challenge. It is looking sweet though and I can't wait to see it all finished up and rolling!

Angus.....I will have to work on the cup holder and magazine rack for ya! LOL The Ivanpah is one of the most comfortable buggies ever. Even when just sitting around buggy town here, we sit in our Ivanpah's and lounge cuz they are more comfy than the chairs.

I Like the Camo look as well. It would look good with a 50 Caliber mounted on top. That would take care of the birds better than the Roo Scarers.

One thing you have to plan for is the weight of the thing. It takes a lot of planning and prep to get it on and off the Kitemobile. Lucky for me Jekyll Island is almost finished re-building the handicap ramp to the beach because the stairs are a real #@%$#! with 95 lbs of buggy.

These bugs are not easily dismantled for storage so if you don't have a pick-up truck, a rack or trailer is the way to go. But worth the effort.
