OUCH, and Thanks
I want to thank everyone who lent a greatly appreciated hand in loading up my stuff Sunday morning at Moclips. I couldn't have done it with out
everyone involved. You all were above and beyond GREAT.
To make a long story short...I got catapulted out of the buggy and into orbit and came down with a big thud. Spent the night in the hospital in
Aberdeen, 9 broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung and a little scrape on my knee. Over all it was a pretty good weekend.
THANKS AGAIN, ONE AND ALL.

isn't this the second time you got broken ribs in the buggy? Maybe you should look into a filming career like little Ricky.

when you come down on your head and shoulder then kiss your knees, no amount if padding would have helped. maybe a bigger kite next time......i
should rethink this after the morphine wears off.
but thanks for the thought.

Good grief. 9?
People come out of plane crashes with less. Too bad they wont let you take some morphine home.
Get some "new skin" for that knee. It will replace your rib pain for a minute or so.
But for real, that is too scary, ribs poke vitals.
Wishing you well.

Ow. Remember, broken ribs suck, but not letting them heal all the way and hurting them again when they're almost healed is a true tragedy.

ouch! =)
my obe resulted in an emergency brake + one big gust and my fault for leaving my kite at full zenith at speed. keep it low and far forward and i would
have been fine. im stil waiting for dino's obe footage. hehehehe.
i only broke one rib before, and it was because of my harness coming undone way back in the late 90's. good thing harness dont use those plastic clips
anymore.
sounds like an odd obe when you land on your head. either way heal up, and see you at an event soon.

I have experience with three ribs in a racing accident. The advice to take it easy is a good one. Let 'em heal up good before pushing it or it will be
deja vu all over again. :o

Sounds like a bad one. Although it sounds like it could have potentially worse.

OK, I am about to take another handful of meds and thought I would respond while my brain is as clear as can be.
the wind was about 20 to 25 out of the NW, the 1.8 Beamer was a dog and was good for going down the beach, not up. Put the Beamer away and saw Sunset
Jim with a 3m something and got out a 2.4 Combat.
Off and running, headed up the beach and made my turn down wind. Kite was low and headed down wind when I supermaned out of the bug, when you jump
over tall buildings you have to fly strait up, right? with my feet bringing up the rear I was hoping to do a little tuck and roll and the kite decided
to power up again and I did a swan dive into the beach, I wish the water was a little bit deeper.
Not sure who unwrapped me from the lines and handles but my wife said the kite looks good with the rats nest all around the kite. I was just glad to
not get a second ride if the kite powered up again.
Well the rib pieces are popping back and forth at my sternum, need more meds.
Thanks again everyone who helped out, it will be a good 6 to 8 weeks if no surgery is needed, before I get to play again. I see the surgeon on Monday.
Who ever said you cant jump with a Combat doesn't know what they are talking about, I'm not sure about landing one though.
And don't ask about pics, cause there aint any

the list grows of more people I know hurt on small kites vs. larger ones. I know very few people hurt on kites larger than 3m, but the list is long
for people hurt on sub 3m kites.
Hope you heal up soon.

I'm one of those that DAKITEZ just mentioned - was a 2.3m firebee, evil kite. Helped me make the switch to arcs though, so I can't curse them
completely. Have had no problems since - again DAKITEZ can attest to a certain weekend full of gusty 20 - 30 mph winds with me tootling along with a
12m phantom - was an awesome day. Hope you heal up well - I know the feeling of waiting to get back in the game - soon enough.

Big kid sorry to hear of your OBE and hope you mend quickly. In the future it would be great if we DO NOT post our accidents on open forums so
insurance companies don't get the wrong ideas about the buggy group as a whole and raise our rates or cancel us again.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Ouch damn. It's always the small kites that hurt. My only injury thus far *knock* *knock* was on my 2.5 rage. Supermaned and bruised my knee in
