When I had a bar for each kite I kept the bar attached to the kite all the time. This is pretty much how I used to pack the kite. But I folded the
end(s) of the kite in about 4 rolls before finishing rolling up. 1st one end, then a roll to lock it, then the other (however, sometimes there is only
one end to fold), then finish rolling up. Burrito style. I also rolled by moving my hands from the center to the trailing edge to the leading edge,
repeatedly. This makes for a nice tight burrito.
It works great. Pretty much the only issue for me ever was avoiding twists and tangles. To avoid twists and tangles be sure your lines are sorted
prior to winding them. Always wind them up the same way and exactly reverse to unwind them. Figure 8 the lines onto the bar with slight tension. Avoid
twisting the bar or dropping the bar throught the lines during winding, packing, unpacking and unwinding. Watch for this when you go to open the kite
from the taco to inflate as it can flick the bar through the lines.
