I was wondering which kite I should get the flysurfer costs twenty five dollars less but I don't really know how many meters extra extra extra large is which kite should I get remember i'm a noob kiter:wee:

Also this will be my first real kite my other one was a 1.2m trainer :wee:

Short answer.... Neither. Both of the kites you mention are not good choices for beginners on water. I have yet to even hold a line on the water, and my few sessions of body-dragging and trying water starts on fixed bridles have taught me that while learning on fixed bridles may be the real man's way forward, it's a bit much for me on my own. The kitesurfer is a fixed bridle, NOT made by flysurfer (did they ever make a fixed bridle?) and the Boxer is, if i recall correctly, an agressive C kite and so not good for beginners.

Others with more experience may chime in later (my post count is WAY out of whack with my skill level) but I doubt anybody will support either purchase.

This is a very supportive site, but there are plenty of photos of broken bones and the like from folks taking smaller steps than the one you are hoping to take.

Is your 1.2 a prism snapshot? The 1.4 was my first.... If so, it's actually less than 1 m in area. Is it a 2-line? 2-line kites tend to get measured by their width and 4-line kites get measured by their square area. Also folks flying smaller kites get used to tossing them about deep in the power zone which is how to hurt yourself in a hurry with the big kites, they need to flown at the edge of the window. The XXXL is right around 9m in size.

Best of luck with your kitequest.... but this is not the next step to take on your journey. There's a reason why the kites you are considering are so affordable.....

Both are bad choices.

Don't rush in to a kite purchase. Be sure you are getting the right kite for your need BEFORE throwing money.

You get what you pay for in this sport.

Can you get a lesson ?

I'm not sure if their are any lessons in MA I what I really what is a affordable kite that I can practice with that can take a hit with out being destroyed its first crash. a kite that could give me an extra couple seconds in the air for "body dragging" would be enough to give a exciting for a beginner like me If any one on the website knows a kite like that or a kite they liked that may be slightly intermediate would be good I bought some stunt delta kites that were dirt cheap/$5 just to see what a two line system for kites would be like that was pretty cool i flew them today and the wind was so strong I had to put them away

I can't imagine putting a beginner on a 16m even in a light wind area, moreoever unsupervised. That's asking for a trip to the morgue. If you really want an inflatable, try the naish inflatable trainers. I'd reccomend that you get a lesson, and see what equipment they use, and see what others are using in your area. Typically there are certian types of kites are boards that will be well suited to you area, wind, water conditions, and riding style.

Lessons aren't just for learning how to fly, that's the easy part. They'll teach you how not to kill yourself and what to do if you're stranded away from the shore. We recenlty had a beginner kiter who didn't know how to self rescue and ended up being swept out by currents.

Im 170 lbs and live in mass could i kite jump and slide on grass with this kite 4.1 Twister or should i get a HQ hydra because i live near the water

If you want to play with the kite out on the water the Hydra is the better choice.

You can get the Twister wet but will have to take it to land and start all over if you crash on water. 99.9% chance it will not relaunch.

You can slide on grass and sort of jump with the Twister with enough wind. It is a bit small once you are lifted so is not the best kite for that job. Great for learning though.

cool thanks for the response blade runner i was wondering if the twister could be relaunched from the land if it was wet from just crashing in the water and also what type of kite is like the HQ neon or the twin skin kites from peter Lynn that can basically be used any were

you can relaunch a FB kite when wet, but chances are it wont perform properly as water and sand will chance the weight of the kite dramatically, especially if you get any sand in the kite itself...

i recommend the peter lynn twinskins as a rule... they are simple, easy to fly, forgiving, confidence inspiring, and safer than most other kites... did i mention versatile and inexpensive, as well?

i have had enough issues with hq that i wont ever buy their gear again... but some people do like them

inexpensive is not what comes to mind when I think of peter lynn are they less expensive then HQ

i bought all three of my pl twinskin kites, with 2 bars for under $1000... in the kite world, thats inexpensive... you just have to be patient and know where to look...

Yeah, you'll either spend a lot of money fast or be very, very patient and build a quivver of kites for pretty cheap. I'm still under $1000 for my 3 kites.
